I just have a story to share with you all that happened about 10 minutes ago.
I was overclocking my 3D Prophet II mx to see how far i could go and still keep it stable, I am running the memory clock at 215 mhz and its been pretty stable so far. i usually dont pay much attention to the core clock speed cuz i hear that wont affect much. Anyways i had the side off of my pc and i felt to see how hot it was getting i dont have nay probes so i dont know the exact temp. but lemme tell ya it was hot! i had an extra active heatsink layin in my scrap pile so i thought i was gunna put it on. I started to try and take off the old passive heatsink and it was tougher than expected. so i thought i'd just use some pliers and snap it right off. didnt work. so i got out my littlest flathead screwdriver and i tried that. it seemed to work and then as i pushed harde on the screwdriver i sliped and scrtched a HUGE deep gash across the entire board. Its only a week or two old so i got pretty mad. i took a close look at the cratch to see if i ruined any of the little lines(i forgot the technical name sumthin with a p?)and they were too small to make out so i put it back in my machine and tried to boot. got through POST and started loading windows. windows loaded but then about 10 different errors came up. so i quickly turned it off. i tried again and this time a totally different error came up. "wondows protection errer" and i knew that wasnt good. i tried one more time and then everytting was fine! i started unreal tourney to see if maybe theres something wrong with 3D mode or sumthin like that. and it was fine. performance was the usual 40 fps and under.I got enough balls to restart and see what would happen and it booted normally and it was fine, i couldnt believe it. maybe those protection errors were all just a coincidence, il never know.
just thought i'd share that
