Ok, i was going to get a IC7-MAX3 for my intel 3.2GHz CPU. someone said that i should get better RAM than PC3200. I thought to myself, the motherboard only supports maximum Pc3200, so how can i get better RAM?
Is this guy telling me something i dont know, or did he mess up on his specs?

Well with some good name brand 3200 you could O/C but 3500 would give you a little more O/c. OCZ 3500EB would probabaly max out that CPU

Here you go http://www.ocztechnology.com/support/motherboard/64 this a link to OCZ site that tells you what rams they have that are compatible with your motherboard. This is what they have actually tested in their labs!!!! Now tell me again why it isn't supported? To rrun stock no you dont need more than PC32000 but after all this is an overclocking forum isn't it?

this is not true. they all just claim support for PC3200 but you can stick pc 4400 in your mobo and it will work. Don't worry about it.

oh, so really the mem it tells you is kida there, "recommended" RAM.

its not even really recommended... idk why they don't change that. either way it doesn't matter you shouldn't have any problems with the memory being "too fast" or anything. esp. if on the manufac. site it says its compatible with your mobo.
There are two reasons why the IC7 only "officially" supports PC3200 RAM. 1) that was the fastest RAM available at the time the chipset was designed and 2) Intel don't like evil overclocking, so to them there is no reason to "officially" support anything higher since default speed for a 800 bus CPU using 1:1 ratio is DDR400. In reality, any DDR RAM will work. I have used the following RAM successfully in my Abit mobos: generic no-name PC2700, KHX PC3000, KHX PC3200, OCZ PC3500, Mushkin PC3500 level 2, Corsair XMS PC4000 Pro, and KT Hyperram PC4200.
