I recently built one of the briefcase computers that a few ppl around here have done........... only mobo, psu and a hard drive in it (and a fan in the top lid).
anyways i have plenty of room left in it. i was wondering what you guys thought of having a hub built into the case withe all of the ports exposed so that it can be used without opening the case, cut a hole and mount the hub to the lid.
would be perfect for lan parties and such.......and would make ppl happy. i know its a godd idea in theory but anyways what do you guys think.

(i know alot of ppl make these thing but noone in my area has done it so i dont feel as if i am copieing (that much))

i don't know how much use it would get. at lans people hate lag and most hubs that home users have don't work well. the admins at the lans i go to would blow a gasket if they saw their layer 2 switching being compromised :)

A hub at a LAN? Only if absolutely necessary. If you can, use a switch or a router for your mod.

ok, read it again and replace the word (hub) with (switch) then respond...... you missed the point of my thread (hub was being used genericly) should have been more specific.

still no good.

What happens if you have to leave early? That leaves 4+ people without connections. I'd say throw it in there, but only for emergencies.

Same theory as power strips....don't let anyone else plug into yours, because it'll just create problems if you have to leave before everyone else does. They have to shut down and find a new power source...
