My current system is a AMD Athlon 1.4 overclocked to 1.57. I bought a new 300Watt PSU (Seasonic SS-300FS Revison A1) AMD approved. However the 5 volt rail (CPU uses) is quite low 4.88 -4.80 under load. I would like to know what 5volt reading are you's guys getting with a similar setup. Please reply with model and make of power supply......

I know this bird can do 1.6 but I need a better PSU I reckon???

I have an Antec 350W, Model PP352X. With my 1.4 GHz Athy at 1.6 GHz, it drops to 4.87V under maximum load. My box has SCSI and IDE drives, a DVD-ROM, and CD Burner in it.

here is a great thread from another site that describles the fix, you need an Antec power suupply however.

Future Power 400 Watt. 5v=4.78
My old cheap 300 Watt ps would go as low as 4.61

Did not seem to effect stability through. Another thing I noticed is that the 5v reading dropped more with increasing CPU multiplier or voltage. Increasing the FSB doesn't seem to effect it as much.
At least that has been my experience.

My 350 watt Enermax would hold at 4.77-4.88. I added a old p/s
last night and now it holds steady at 4.88. My vcore is at 2.06
though!

I used the trick they tell on this website http://review.ibuyer.net/review/headlines/frame.asp?url=http://www.gideontech.com/guides/psu_powerup/ it let me make my +5v , +6v on my volt meter and my 12v was 12.50 :-). It was easy I turned this little dial that was orange with a screw driver and it raised my voltage high. I had made a switch first with some wire and a lil soldering here and there , o yea and an simple on/off switch that i found in my draw.Don't get scared how ever if you'r psu turns off when you turn you'r dial up too high. You can also attach a volt metter and keep reading the chart as you turn the dial on the psu :-)

I just opened up the my old p/s, and it had a orange dial. I'll
post back if any positive results were found!
