Just got my thermochill pro water cooling kit and had a look at the pump.
Its an Ehielm 1250, the first problem is that the tubing supplied is 1/2" tygon tubing but the adaptors on the pump are not the same. the horizontal outlet is a bit larger than a 1/2 and the fit is very very tight ( quite reassuring actually ) but the top outlet is a 1/2 fit but its only about 1cm long so the tubing goes on but feels loose. Should the outlets be the same size? I have read somewhere about elheim pump adaptors but as i bought a kit i thought it would come with any required adaptors?

Also its quite loud and vibrates in the bottom of the case. Even when secured firmly it buzzes and hums. Is this normal?

Thanks

Yeah its normal, you can get these http://www.highspeedpc.com/Merchant...HSPC&Product_Code=Pumpfeet&Category_Code=Pump
plus padding underneath to alleviate that problem. As for the fittings, those will be harder to replace because this German pump has different threading, called BSPT. U.S. threading is NPT. I do not know exactly the sizes of the inlets and outlets, but I do know that on page 115 of Mcmaster.com they have a bunch of BSPT fittings you can buy. If not, you can use NPT threaded fittings but you might need to force it more.

fittings won't be a problem for Danr - he lives in the UK....
he can buy a set of fittings here...

btw i believe that 115v versions of the eheim have NPT fittings... criticool seem to think so anyway...

I actually bought it as part of a kit from coolercases.co.uk thats why i am a bit disappointed. There was also no instructions for any of the items in the kit at all, not even how much water wetter to add to a quant of water!

bit miffed

One of the reasons i went for water cooled is the noise of the air cooled fans, but this pump rivals the fan and is a more annoying sound. Should i have gone for the 1048 version instead? hmmm

No the 1250 is fine indeed, make sure you mod the impeller and dont let the pump rest on hard surface. Vibrations are normal. Let it rest on packaging foam for example..

think the stock outlet (which is 13mm OD i believe ) should be fine - but you want a hoseclamp on it of course...)
