Hi people,

I'm looking for opinions on my water cooling setup. Here's what I have.

250 gph mag drive pump (Danner)

What problems might I see with this pump? Any expieriences, good or bad you can relate would be great.
Any precautions I should take with it before I set it up?
Will there be a problem if I mount it on it's side? (would help it fit better)

8" x 9-10" x 2" copper heater core.
Is this a good size in you guestimation? (those dementions are off the top of my head but are close to the real ones.)
I have a 120mm 120cfm fan I was planning to use, think it'll do a good job cooling this sucker? Would I be better with 2 92mm 40-50 cfm fans or 2-4 80mm fans? should they push or pull the air through it?

1/2" tubing.
Good? Bad? doesn't matter?

DD Maze2 on the way.
Gonna Lap it, and use ASII.

My system:

AXIA 9 1.2ghz T-Bird
A7M266
Golden Socket
300 watt Antec psu (might upgrade, undecided as of yet. I wanna see how well it performs.)
512 meg Crucial

I wanna get this thingy up to 1.5 if possible, I'll be happy with 1.4xx though. (Had it there with golden gate with temps under 50*C load)

What do you guys think? Comments? Questions? Suggestions? Tips? Remarks? Quaint anecdotes? Stories from grampa's farm? Aesops Fables? Should I shut up now?

Please let me know, I'm all ears (It's a genetic dissorder) =]

Thanks!

Sounds good so far, copper block and copper rad. I am not familiar with that pump, is it inline? Are you going to have a resiviour?

Whoops, forgot to mention that, it's going to be inline with no reseviour.

The cooling rig looks real good, but I definitely think you should upgrade that power supply. IMO, 300W just doesn't cut it for a 1.5ghz processor. But before you shell out the dough give it a try.

Kool, I ordered a new psu, a 350w enermax. It should work ok, I would have gotten a better one but I don't have have the funds right now.

Any other comments guys? C'mon, I need some more expertise before I start weaving and circulating water around $1000+ worth of computer parts. =]

I've read through the articles on the front page and the past threads but some feedback on my particular setup would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

looks fine to me, pump could be a TAD weak, but no biggie at all. Unless you can find a 350 mag drive, don't sweat it at all. go 1/2" if thats what the pump fittings and heater core fittings are. Other than that, everything looks great. Have fun.

I am running a cooling system similar to yours. I made a metal case to mount my pump/water res/heater core. I am using a pair of 6 inch 110 volt fans. One fan blows into the rad and the other pulls air out. My copper block is a homemade piece constructed of a pair of 2 inch copper end caps soldered together. I then machined in 3/8 fittings into one side to connect my water hoses. I am running a Tbird 1000 at 2 C over room air temp. I would suggest smaller fans that I am using as the big ones are way too loud and the air coming off my heater is not even warm.

Yeah, it's better to oversize than undersize -consider getting a bigger pump, maybe 400gph. Larger fittings are better too. I think there's a benefit as well to have a reservoir, even a small one -primarily as a safety buffer and so it's easier to prime the inline pump.
