View Full Version : waterblock schematic
i found a guy who could build me any waterblock i want if i can provide him with the exact schematic of it (dimensions, holes, interior design, etc). the problem is i don`t have the schematic and i googled and googled and nothing.
can anyone help me with something like this ?
i need it for a skt 462.

Let me refer you to the proper section for this post http://www.ocforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=71
Mounting hole specifications: http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/23794.pdf
Best design is to have the water hit right above the core, some kind of formation that creates turbulence, then the warm water being moved to the sides of the block and pumped out.
arabarian : sorry, i wasn`t paying attention to where i posted :)
bensa : thx, i didn`t think of that. do you think that a dual outlet is way better than one ? i was thinking of using 4 outlets :D kinda overkill but it will look great

No problem. It was just so you would get better feedback.

Two will look better, but provide no real improvement. Cascade blocks usually have only one outlet, 2 were only put in with special requests.
Also, a little more clearer, but I like to put very specific info and technical documentation first: http://www.activeelectronics.com.au/promo/h2ocooling/template.jpg
bensa thanks. i`ve forward the schematic to him and now i`m awaiting reply with the overall price.

This is the locations of holes

are you looking for plue prints on water blocks as well?
yes, i need blueprints of waterblocks. i`ve done one, i`ll get back later with the blue print.
blueprint rev. 0.1
expecting feedback :D
sorry for the big file. if i make it smaller it will lose details.

You may want to split that pic up 3 ways (it is real big). The block looks like an enlarged white water (nice choice :)), but if I remember right the fins will not do much of anything after 10~12mm in hight I think there is a thread about it in the forums by Cather himself (He's the one who designed the W/W and Cascade). PS a few Q for you
1) How much is it going to cost to have one made in Romania?
2) Did you draw that on Auto CAD? (BTW nice job on it)
i`m thinking right now to lose the fins and use pins in the center.
and here are the answers to your questions :
1. i don`t know yet how much it is going to cost me. i need to decide on the design (i hope i`ll do that by monday) and then talk to the guy and see how much he will charge me. i don`t think it will be more than 25$. If i like the final result, maybe i`ll start a business :D
2. yep, it was drawn in autocad. if you want i can send you the .dwg to modify it
Only thing that I would modify is the addition of a small hole in the fins right in the middle where the water comes in. This way the cool water will hit the hottest spot of the processor with the least amount of metal between.

Thats a good point Bensa,
I also like the idea of pins versus fins but I don't know how much of difference it will make on performance.
yeah, but pins are a lot harder to make, i think :)
i`ll make a version with pins and get back to you guys.

If you have a CNC making it you could drill pin holes and press in pins (I think thats how Swiftec makes there pin blocks). This would make it simpler than milling the pins but add a step or two to the overall process.
PS I would like to take a few shots at that .dwg (I use 2000 so it should be cool if you have a newer one just re-save it down to 2K)
give me a pm with you email adress and i`ll send it to you. i`m using 2000 too.
