In just every game I play, im getting these unusual skips in my FPS, but I have constant 60-100fps in most games. For example in Halo i get about 80-100fps, but every 10 seconds my fps drops to 0 then back up really quick. Its almost like its skipping. My system is stable and nothings overheated, I even have a cyclone blower under my 9800np. I dont know if its my hardddrive, video card, internet, or sound card. So I did some tests. I played single player and it did the same thing, so its not my wireless lan, which i get like 60 ping. I disabled my sound card and it does the same thing. So its either my harddrive or video card. Please help, thanks! :bang head

System- A7N8x v1.06, XP2500, Corsair PC2700LL, 9800nonpro, Audigy X-gamer, and 80gig 7200rpm 2mb cache IBM Deskstar.

How much ram do you have? Sounds like it may be a ram issue. Have you defragmented your hardrive lately? Cleaned up the registry?

Definatly more sensible suggestions there, personally I would say it was a memory deficiency, though if this occurs often then I think it would be some application doing something in the background, make sure you close programs you don't want open, and check to see what processes are running, make sure you don't have any viruses - applications that look to have used much more CPU time than you would expect for example. Also I've had problems with webcams before where if it was plugged in it would cause a slight jerk every few seconds.

what drivers do you have? ive heard that the catalyst 4.6 can cause that with some 9800 pros, althought it doesnt seem to do it with mine. If you are useing 4.6, try using 4.5 instead to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. My memory is solid, and gets no errors in memtest86. I have 512mb of ram. I have defraged and rolled back the driver to 4.5. My guess is that its a virus or some really gay spyware. But i've ran all the checks.

Hey check this I out, i found something new. In my Windows Task Manager, under CPU Usage History, the monitor goes up and down like a heartbeat. Every 4 secs or so it goes up from 0% to about 35% usage, then back down, so ya it looks like a heartbeat. Under processes I found the file thats doing it, it's called WToolsA.exe. Whenever I try to end the process, It doesnt allow me and gives me this message - Operation could not be completed. Access is denied. If anyone knows how to fix it or what it is that would be great, Thanks!

Someone should create something that catches these spywares when the install themselves on ur computer, and the ip where theyre coming from...then you can do some damage.

It could be that something running in the background is creating the lag. Also try downloading the latest drivers.
