Well I was just browsing the Innovatek Forum and somebodies waterblock exploded!!!!

Not like full blown explosing but it had rips in it on the side where the hose connections where and one side had a proper hole! It was a Rev 4.0 waterblock.

this block has leds in it. First they thought the leds overheated the plastic which cant happen cause the plastic is save over 150C heat.
Then he might have overtightened the connections which he did not do again!

obviously Innovatek took his whole kit and analysed it. etc and asked the user questions and found out the below.

which means:
they found out that the plastic on the block was in contact with cleaning alcohol, which causes a reaction and made the block break. The way it happened in this case is that the uses cleaned his CPU with "rubbing Alcohol". 70% Isopropanol + 30% destilled water. somehow left over of the solution touched the plastic on the block.
Innovatek says to avoid any conntact with any sort of alcohols!

I am sure a bit of beer wont do any damage though. :)

My friends bong did the same thing, he put some alcohol in it to dissolve the grime and a few hours later we came back and a bunch of plastic peices were all over his counter. The alcohol must react with certian plastics? It wasnt made of PVC plastic but some colored very hard brittle plastic.
