View Full Version : Burning in?
I have heard this topic many times and Have no idea what it is or how to do it.
Little help?
Burning in is running your computer at 100% cpu usage for a few days in hopes of obtaining a higher clock speed.
At first I didn't really believe this to be true but I have now seen the light, but it took a year to convince me. I built a 500 clasic athlon for my dad and had it overclocked to 700 for about a year. I wasn't able to even boot higher thatn 700. After a year of burn in I played around with it for a while and it would post at 800 and run great at 750. Burnin really only takes a few days at full load so it may be worth the hassle. A year is a bit much but we werent trying to burn it in. I would suggest running seti or folding to stress your cpu.
so do I run the cpu @stock speed or overclocked?
Can I shut it down at night?
If I have already been using my cpu for a week know is ti already burnt in?

what you do is o/c ur pc as much as you can, then when you have raised the voltage, fans and what not you run a burn in program such as seti@home for a few days non-stop, it is a long thign to do I know, but will like people said get ur cpu ni gear for some more oc. Make sure you run MBM5 or some monitoring program.
