I'm contemplating a peltier mod for my P3 700 system. I've found quite a few 72W peltier units for well under $20 and wondered if it'd be smart to try one of these on a cB0 CPU. It shouldn't run over 50 watts even with extreme clocking and voltage (I'm shooting for 933+ and 1.8 Volts or more). I wouldn't be considering this if it weren't for the fact that I live in a very warm climate and I don't want to kill this CPU. Plus, it's very picky at temperatures above 45C. So here's the setup: Slot 1 700Mhz P3, GlobalWin VOS32 (should be big enough). I'll have to find a good way to anchor the whole thing to the CPU. At any rate, has anyone seen/done this and what was the verdict? The CPU database only tells so much...

Just thought I'd refresh this post. That's the only trouble with forums in general-posts can get lost really fast!

I did have another question concerning peltiers though. If a pelt is rated at 72 watts, is that the heat transfer ability or the total power drain on the power supply?

I also have a slot 1 p3 700e peltier/air cooled.
For cooling I have an Alpha p3125s with sunon fans (soon to be 38cfm deltas) I also have an 86w peltier/kit.
my cpu runs at -10 to -9c under idle and under 10c under full load.
The peltier is running off a 300w psu that has 12 AMPS on the +12v line. I also have 5 other fans on that power supply, so my total draw is about 9.299 AMPS.

So what have you found to be the best place to order this stuff? I'm also concerned about how best to mount all this. Most of the kits I've seen are made for the Alpha HSF that you are using. May be the clips are close enough that it won't be a problem. Anyone else out there used a GW VOS32 with a peltier?
