Does anybody know whether the temperature sensors on the A7V133 mb are reliable?
The Bios and PC-Probe app reports: 53 degr C (CPU) and 33 degr C (MB). Even with open case. I can't believe this is true!!
My current bios version: 1005A
CPU: T-bird 900 (not overclocked due to high temperatures)
HSF brand: Spire, middle-of-the-road, in reviews the CPU is about 9 degr C hotter than with a Thermalright SK-6
Case cooling: installed 2 extra 80mm fans which decreased the case temp by 7 degr C, still have to make some modifications
Ambient temp: about 24 C last days
My questions:
1. Could the reported temperatures be true?
2. Would a silver compound instead of thermaltape significantly decrease the CPU temperature?
3. What else can I do?

I'm not completely familar with your mobo but I can tell you that the temps seem very high.
1) If ambient temps are around 24c and you have your case open, your case temp sensor should be just above or at ambient unless you have a really crowed, small case. 53c..is that idle? What are you using to monitor your temps?
2) Thermal tape will really hold you back from transfering heat properly. If you cant send away for AS2, many people use Radioshack thermal grease with pretty good results.
3) You might want to try posting in the AMD Mobo section regarding sensor readings. Many people tend to use the same boards so someone should be able to help you out. Consider saving for a nice heatsink...those birds run hot!
Good Luck

1. My case is a miditower (4x5.25, 2x3.5), with almost all cables aside the airflow. And when my case is open I get a reported mb temp of 33C while ambient is about 24C. If I get you right, these should be about the same?
2. Thanks a lot. How about AS (1). Do you have any indication of temperature drop?
3. I already posted in the mb-section.
Thanks again!

Even the same brand of MB might have up to a 10C difference in temp readings allthough yours are probably close to accurate. AS1 will still work much much better then the thermal pad as far as Radioshack stuff it works good too AS-2 will only give maybe 2C cooler. You may try a few other temp and misc programs like MBM and Sisandra which can be found at www.tweakfiles.com
Since your CPU is running hot theres a good chance it may be blowing some hot air that is reaching your system temp probe giving you high MB temps, but since i dont know where you thermistors are at this is just a guess.
Welcome to the forums.

Just my opinion, I haven't used the Asus Probe software for a long time. I think it is at the least 6 degrees celsius too high. When I got this board it was doing the same thing that the A7V was and that was about 6c high. I would highly recomend getting Motherboard Monitor 5 and using it to mionitor.

Also, disable the AsusProbe when you do because they don't seem to play well together.
I run the best cooling I have found to date and am reporting 44c on the CPU with an ambient of 25c. I take temps on the CPU from MBM5 and from a probe next to the die. They are within 1 degree of each other so I feel sure it is as close to core temp as I can measure. I'm happy if it stays below 50c.
Hope this helps.
