Well im gonna be moddong one of my cases and i am gonna put 2 fans on the side of it so im gonna need to use my hand drill and hole saw kit for the holes and i wanna know if i should use the hand drill or the drill press for making the 4 corner holes to hold the fan in. Isn't it great having a dad with tons of tools? :D

Drill press for sure, more power, easier to use, etc.

For thin sheet metal you can use easier as long as you make sure to center punch your holes. Overall the drill press will be easier and less worry about the bit walking on you which is bad news for the case.

I bought a bit for my 12v cordless to see if it would work..it comes with a center drilling bit and worked just fine. I just masked it off, measured and rew up my center lines, and took it outside (because I have no where else to do it), and put my steel case panel on the grass and went to town.

So take a nail and tap it with a hammer in the spots i have marked out, then use the drill press?

i have a makita cordless and corded.. with the hole saw it has a standard bit to make a pilot hole. Luckily my corded drill, has a thing where i can lock the trigger, which makes it like a drill press and helps work on brushing metal...

If you have a drill press it is the way to go and centering with a nail makes it easier. I burnt out my old drill (black & decker corded) with a 114mm hole saw, cutting 1/8" Aluminum for a back plat to my case.
