Ok I know about PC1600 (=200mhz) and PC2100 (=266mhz), but what is PC2400 ram? And what does it work with? I have a 1.4 athlon 266, I am new to this stuff, but have been reading the forum and am very excited about learning all of this stuff.

Welcome to the forums

its actually 266 ram that has been approved for HIGHER fsb speeds, useless unless you overclock i think

btw this should have been posted in memory

2400=300mhz
It works with any ddr motherboard. It just means its rated to run at a fsb of up to 150, or in ddr 300mhz.

Thanks. BTW, I have a 1.4athlon with a voodoo 5500 agp card, I have 128mb of pc2100 ram now. I plan to add at least another 256mb . Do you think that will be enough for most gaming or should I go ahead and add a 512mb stick?

256-512mb is plenty, more in win 9x can slow you down but is fine for win 2000.
