Hi,
I wired up and lcd and made a little box for it to match my homemade desk. You guys think it looks ok?

I think I cut the whole a little too big so theres some gaps and its kind of crooked a little :(

I like it, you did a fine job. One good thing about that mod that you did was that the wood you used also matched your desk that you built yourself. What can that little lcd you have display? Any temps? Or is it more of a clock?

Ya, the first thing I noticed was that it is crooked. Other than that, it looks really cool. I love trying to see how long I can keep my computer runnin :D That's a really nice looking desk. Good job on that, too!

I'm using the crystal fontz software. It can display temps, winamp, etc.
The crooked part should be an easy fix

Ya, I figured it would be. If you fixed that, it will look really cool and perfect. Just get somethin to fill that space, or anythin else if ya had other ideas. Post a pic of it fixed when you're done :D

Also, I think it would be cool to include Winamp in the display as well. Actually, now that I think about it, you should have all of that stuff you mentioned, and get rid of the time and date and stuff. All of that info is on your computer screen already.

I was thinking of mounting it on pc door at first on my antec sonata, but I saw that a lot of people was doing this already and I was afraid that using power tools might melt or deform the plastic. Since my dad owns a millwork shop, I already had all the tools and materials to make this :)

My Desk is built into a corner in my room in a little cubby hole. Its a nice big desk, but since its in the corner, its got ****ty air flow and heats up quick.

I bought it on ebay for about 16. It connects to the pcs serial port and the power connects to a molex connector on the power supply. I drilled 2 hole into a pci bracket and glued 2 molex connector things onto it so that external mods will be easier to power

search for hd44780 on ebay and you should find some. Yeah mine was about 16 before shipping. Most have a backlight on it already. You just need to connect power to it
