man, they just keep getting faster and faster, but yea, the Palamino 1.53GHz (266) bus chip is at my local store, (only 1 processor for show only! :( . But you wouldnt catch me buying one because there currently $600 CAN. Also, watch for some revision's and stepping changes in the next three months. AMD is having problems getting these CPU's compatible with older Motherboards. Anyway with 3-phase power, your Mboard has a 100% chance of getting the 1.53GHz chip to work somewhat.
This is also funny news cause the clerk told me that there was to be a 1.6GHz Athlon early october so I'm thinking of waiting for that one.
:D I must say, it was beautiful to hold my first Palamino processor in my own bare hands! The core was square folks!

a 1.6 athlon? the 1.4s are already pretty hot! do you think they will have a new way of making the core so it generates less heat

Um...they do. That's one reason why it is the Palomino and not Thunderbird...now, how long until pricewatch starts listing the puppies?

actually awile back amd anouced that they were foing to have a 1.53 ghz athlon and 1.7ghz. I don't know if their going to still make those, but they sure are going to have to change the hsf they use with there retail cpu's.

Now, how about some nForce motherboards and DDR333!

Well, I've heard that the Palaminos will run about 20% cooler than the t-birds. If that's true, I would guess that it should take about a 1.8GHz Palamino to generate the amount of heat that a 1.5GHz does. At that time, AMD should be ready to shrink down to 0.13 micron and release the Thoroughbred/Appalooza procs.
Was the Palamino you saw organic or ceramic? AFAIK the Palaminos should be using the organic material.

Pricewatch - with 1.53ghz athlon,

I knew it but I still think the 1.4 is the best deal since 761 MP boards are so much money still.

yup they will they will run on less voltage which will help us very much but of course when we overclock the VCORE will also go up :)
Chaosdriven, where did you find that 1.0 AHYJAR? I can't find it anywhere!
Here you can find some technical background on the design of the Palomino and why it should run coller than the current TBird core.

Will my asus a7v133 board be able to run the new palomino cpus?? It got settings down to 1.1v vcore in bios.
But i dunno if it got 3-phase power

From what I've heard 3 phase power is a must. But who knows. I am also curious if it will run on my iWill KK266.

Looks just like older Athlon core except it's square instead of rectangular. Palomino is supposed to run cooler, but mine isn't much cooler. They're going to need some tweaks to get this to run cool enough if they want to hit 1.7GHz by years end. Mine won't overclock past 1440.
