View Full Version : Unreal 2k4 HATES my computer

God, this game is soooo anoying! Every 10 minutes when things get intense, the game like crashes and has that critical error message thing. WTF is that? To top it off, I get like 30fps in CTF maps!! Im playing at 1280x1024 with 4xAA 8xAF, max in game details. I can play BF1942 with max details AND 6xAA/16xAF if I wanted! Whats up with this game? I know my card isnt flocked up b/c I ran 3dmark03 and I actually gained points. :confused:

thats wierd i used to have that prob but it wen away...but how do u turn up and down the AA and AF in unreal and battle field...i must know!!!!!!!!!!!!

well turn back everything to stock speed first and see if it continues..

Crappy RAM kept crashing my friends UT, maybe run MemTest.

Also UT04 needs much more computer power than BF.

Turn down some of those setting even though u have a super cpu these need for all that AA and AF. All i do is put eveything on low and have a high res, and it still looks sweet. well with a geforce fx 5600 thats all you can do. :(

I dont think it does....ALL BF1942 maps run smooth as hell, and they are like 3 times the size of a DM/CTF map in UT2k4.

It's not the map size that really counts.. it's the level geometry and polygon count and such. BF isn't quite what UT is when it comes to detail on the screen at one time.

yeah its the actual graphics quality that makes it more video and CPU intensive, BF because of the big maps is mainly memory intensive

Well my videocard isnt damaged is it? I can still run 3dmark03 fine, along with BF1942.

sorry for the n00b ?s but how do u set AA and AF for ut and BF..and how do u run a mem test!

Well, for ATi cards, you go to the settings menu ( right click desktop->proporties->settings->advanced->3D )

I just got the freakin critical error message AGAIN! WTF is going on?! I cant play this game longer than 10 minutes with out it crashing and getting this stupid MESSAGE!!!!! I even had my ram at 166mhz with 2-2-2-5 timings, and I still get HUGE slow down, ANDDD crashes. I even uninstalled it and put it on my backup seagate drive! This sucks....I love this game, but it hates my computer = (
