i have 1GB of corsair xms 3200 c2 i am currently clocking a amd 3000+ to 3200+ but the memory rated speed of 200mhz is what i am at 11x200 if i go higher than 200mhz will my sytem, become un stable or what???

the memory will simply overclock. the problem is memory doesnt usually overclock too well. give the mem the max allowed voltage in the bios and try 11X205 or something...that will overclock the memory 10mhz putting it at 410mhz instead of 400.

the other option is using a divider, but if im not mistaken, i believe AMD systems (at least bartons) dont like multipliers. in other words your stuck with 1:1.

you could always try a 5:4 multiplyer, see how it works out.

Forget the memory ratios for AMD. Stick to 1:1.

And yes, increasing the fsb will result in unstable memory, but there are steps to take to get as high as possible, yet maintain stability.

One approach:

Lower the multiplier on your cpu (based on what you're showing, it should be unlocked, then increase the fsb, as needed, increase the voltage on the ram and the cpu, but do it systematically. In other words, if the system is unstable, then increase the cpu voltage until it quits generating results or your temps get above your comfort zone. When you get much over 200 you may also need to increase the voltage on the ram and/or change to slower timings. You didn't post those so I'm assuming you're at default timings, which if I'm not mistaken, are 2.5-3-3-6 for that ram on an AMD system. Once you find your max fsb, then you can increase your multiplier and find the max speed for your system. And you should test your system for stability at each of these intervals, using memtest86 and prime95, for example.

There are several good sticky(s) on this and related subjects at the beginning of most of the forum sections that will provide you with lots of good information. Worth reading before proceeding.

my computer aint prime 95 stable at stock lol (fails in bout 2 mins) - how ever it is 3dmark 2003/2001 stable at 11x205 (wierd). Yeah it is unlocked, i am going to try and push get 2300mhz :oD doing 11.5x200 but maybe my memory timings will need to changed or increase my voltage???

Higher fsb + lower multi = better
lower fsb + higher multi = teh suck!

Basically push the memory and test it using memtest 86 ever time you increase the speed before going into windows to check for memory errors
