I just got my new X-DREAMER 2 CASE!!!... it's awesome!, super quiet too!!! i love the little LCD in the front that shows the system temp, but that's not enough for me. Soon, very soon when i get bored of this case i'm going to get my dremel and add a buncha acrylic plastic to it, a better, bigger lcd screen... and much more!!! Well... the lights don't get annoying, mainly becuase i never leave my computer on overnight. Or if it is on overnight, it's because i'm playing madden online :) . But the lights are really cool, i'll take some pics tonight when i get home. And HEY! the lights are awesome when your watching a DVD w/ a girl at night... hehe, you guys know what i'm talking about :rolleyes: haha.. Oh yeah , if you guys have any ideas on what might make this case BAD AZZ and i mean any mods to this case that would just... whoa... your welcome to post it on here, i will listen to all! Right now i'm thinking about cutting a hole in the bottom of the case and add a fan, a blue fan to it. then just paint the ..ummm crap... can't think right now guys... the part that rotates... haha ya that's it... paint it a shiny blue, kinda like a mirror... so that as the fan is turning the lights will go in diff directions, what yall think bout that?... :) ... and it says on here that i'm a newb... but i've been reading stuff on this site for a LONG TIME now, especially the overclocking forum... yah i gotta get rdy for work now, you guys take care!!! thanx for the posts

Well, modding it yourself is what usually gets the all of the attention in the alt. modding section. If you want to show off your stock case, there's the case and powersupply section. I agree with you that it's not a bad thing to show off your case, I love showing off what I've done to mine, but what I think the others are getting at is that you're going over the top bragging about what you have. Pride in what you've done is totally different than bragging about what you have.

i got that same case and i like it....the front six lights are pretty bright but they dont bother me at all night when i try to sleep. Pretty soon with in the next week or 2 i will be ordering some wc'ing parts and im gonna start hacking away at this case :)

Guys... i'm sorry if i'm bragging... i am happy that i got this case, and i believe this thread is about how i am going to mod the case... not how offensive someone is or how this other guy likes to brag. well i have my computer set up so that the front 6 blue lights will shine away from me, and the fan lights are blocked my desk so they dont bother me at all :P

Well... how about one of those switches where u can control how bright the light is?... and this case has a unique side window, if i cut a window on the top part then i don't know how you would it w/ the side window... oh and hey you know how the mobo tray has circles for ventilation? Yes i am going to cut a circle exactly where those are on the side window so that you can see some of the mobo. and add neon light to that side too :cool: But hey i'd love to see what you have done to your X-Dreamer.

i dunno anything about controlling how bright the lights are, however my fan controller can slightly dim the red fans, noticable but not that different

Yes i know what you mean... that's a nice side window too, but it's not easy to custom cut acrylic to fit the hole like it does on this case. can't explain sorry... and i have no idea on where i can find blue acrylic, i also don't wanna mess up this fine paint job!!!! ... i'm sure my dremel is gonna mess up the case... but i'm going for it anyways, now you guys have any idea on how to paint cases and get a smooth, kick azz finish? .. the last case i painted looked like a rainbow w/ the colors orange red and white :bang head ... yeah... the key to a glass-smooth paint finish is lots and lots of wet-sanding to smooth it down.

for the colored acrylic just check out this (http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=USPlastic&category%5Fname=Acrylic&product%5Fid=Tinted+and+Colored+1%2F8+Acrylic+Cut+ Sheets) link and look for the size and color you want from the list.

Nice job :clap: Is that a window or a hole? I don't think that you mentioned it on your page. So what are you planning next? I can suggest one thing... organizing cables :D a great pasttime.

If you have the desire, you can cut holes in your mobo backplate... cut away enough that you can route cables behind your mobo or to the right of it, by your drive cages.

Haha, no that was a window. And you know what.... you're right about the cables!!! Right now the system temp is 87.1 F which is very high, my room temp is in the 70's. I think my cd_rw is causing all this heat inside the computer, something's wrong w/ it and it's pizzing me off!!!! :temper: ... but when i eject cd's they are HOT! ... and from just reading data off the cd... i think it's time for me to get a new cd-rw... this one's a year old, eh anyways, I'm looking for a better PSU Unit, one that has a blue led fan and clear acrylic. around 400 watts maybe. they're pretty expensive right now so i'm just gonna wait till they get cheaper... anyways i'm gonna go... do stuff... thanx for the comments! ~WilliamAN

Hey, that case looks very similar to the one sitting beside me :) hehe. I havent modded mine though, just added some light switches for those damned LEDs and a blue CCFL to the inside.

Wiring is neater since that pic was taken also. They were all too damn long so i was waiting for the new shorter ones to come in when i took the pics.

*PS* Just so you know, that 350w PSU that is in there will die pretty quickly. Mine died a few weeks back (after about 6 months of use) so i replaced it with a new Antec 400w SmartPower PSU.

Wow... did you paint that case? mine's black, and i hope the psu unit doesn't die on me!!!!, i have an antec one that's 330 Watts from ym old case. Oh!!! i just added a sound activated cold cathode blue light to my computer!!! big pimpin' lol , it only cost me 12 bucks at micro center. 87 F is NOT hot its only about 30 C and I have a stock 2500 on stock cooling at 52 C right now, and thats about average for a stock setup, 30C is actually too cold for pure air cooling especially if your using stock HSF, where is the probe located?

and CDs will get hot in drives, if they are being read constantly then they get pretty warm. and i wouldnt worry about your drive, if it works keep it.

And as for you worrying about your temp, its fine as long as the CPU stays at least in mid 60s under load, your fine, unless you lan to overclock your PC temp isnt much of a factor.

Due to the use of "Lazorz" in cd - rw drives they have a tendancy to make cd's hot. this is not a design flaw. though if you are worried about heat from your cd drives .. possibly try converting to a differnt medium. eg. 3 1/2" Floppies which run far cooler.

the case isn't that nice admitedly. your case has gone rather like the ORAC3 project.. which has ended up ... as clutter...

i have 3 computer cases 1 is virtualy identical to your case before its modded. the other is a mid range chenbro gaming bomb and the other a lian-li

what i do know about your case is that the build quality is very poor. thus making it easy to mod.

but. id say the number one thing about the looks of any case is the drive bays. unless your going to make a feature out of the interface on the front of your computer eg. like with the power switch on that machine. STEALTH THEM. it makes a huge difference stealth your cd bays floppy bays

yes the lights look nice. but showing off the inside of the case when the case is contains nothing but a nice HSF and a bunch of ulgy ribon cables and power cables isn't wise. first thing you need to do is spray the inside of that case a colour. possibly matt black to fit in with the outside.

you could get a cold cathode light. but right now what would it be illuimnating that isn't already iluminated

also fill any gaps that are leaking light out unintentionaly eg. through the gaps in the cd bay blanking plates.

to make the inside of the case look nicer. A) get rounded cables. either make them yourself or buy them but be warned. rounded cables affect the speed of your hard drives and cd drives. for the psu cables just wrap the cables in tape. to instalty make them look neater.

still i can't really say i like the case. nothing can match the sexyness of lian-li's extruded brushed aluminum.

Wow.. you're right about the cables!!! and it just so happened that right before i got online.. JUST NOW, i have done exactly wut u suggested... i hid the cables and covered the PSU cables w/ black tape. And i have replaced the crappy PSU that came w/ the case w/ an Antec 330Watt PSU unit. The faceplates of the cd drives have been covered w/ the ones that came w/ the case... so it look much better now. I will be updating my homepage later so that yall can see the changes. And the cathode light isn't just any cathode light... it's a sound activated one... :) ... it was pretty cheap 12-13 bucks at micro center... it's not gonna make my computer any better, but it sure is a neat lil' toy you can add to your case to make it look cool! ... and the system temp is down to 79.3, organizing your cables and the fans really do make a diff when it comes to cooling.

Here's an excellent way to hide cables if you have the tools. I think that you mentioned that you have a dremel so this would be an good job for it. Another benefit is that if you have a matching fan hole in your side panel, you get lowered board and cpu temps. Here's some pics

the easiest way i think is to use mask tape to tape up the area, then use a fan grill and trace the circle with a pen. This way it's rounded correctly. Then just use a dremel.

I didnt paint my X-Dreamer II, it came blue. The only mods i really did was add some lights (if you can call that a mod) and mount some siwtches for them in the front 3.5" drive bay.

Cables organization in this case is pretty tough. I put some of the wires behind the mobo, but due to the design of the case. That isnt really a option except for pretty small wires. Your best bet would be to cut all your wires really short, then wire the ends back on at just the right length you need them to be. (or lengthen them if you need too, rear fans for example) And but some short IDE cables. probably like 12" might be best. not really sure though, i know my 18" ones are way too long, but it depends really on drive positions.

The front acrylic bezel has a tendency to crack... so be careful. Good case, though.

It's a good thing you changed the power supply, I have the original X-Dreamer (same thing as yours minus the leds on the front, and the alien grills) and the PSU's that came with it really really really suck. I started my computer up with it, and the d*mn thing burned out right then and there. I got a fortron 530 W. With all your moderately high components, you'll be set, but still 400W may not support it if you upgrade anymore.

and hole-saws are a wonderful thing. kinda pricey tho bought my 2 piece set for 25 or something like that. plus another 15 for the center piece.

as for large cases try searching places for Server tower cases. They can get rather big ;)

Personally I don't care about your psu etc.. just some of the comments with your case pictures are fairly childish to say the least. I am not a english major nor do i care about grammar but "yo homey straight aight phat" tends to annoy me and some others. but you do have the freedom of speech etc so keep it up :) ..
