which to use, im going to being making a stand type thin for my case to sit on. I understand lexan is stronger and more scratch resistant than acrylic is but when i went to home depot the pieces of lexan were far to thin (.093) and would be pretty expensive to double up...whereas the acrylic was .220 and a lot cheaper....so any opinions or thoughts about which i should go with??? i hope this made sense :P

1. Lexan is more IMPACT resistance than a acrylic, but not as scratch resistant.
2. Home Depot is a lousy source for Acrylic. All the grades they stock are for window applications and have very low material strength.
3. Polycarbonate (Lexan) is much easier to machine since it has a higher operating temperature. This is something to consider if you have a limited selection of tools to work with.
Either will do, but you will need to find a more dicerning source for your materials. Home Depot generally has a very limited stock and prices marked up by 10%. Either shuffle through your local phonebook for plastic shops (where you can buy scrap cheaply per-pound) or make an order from http://www.usplastics.com or http://www.mcmaster.com
