so Ive had the computer running for about 2 weeks, perfectly fine(thats debatable maybe, but its been running)

anyway, Ive had some error issues with CoH game. and decided to update some drivers. I also set the date and clock. well now with the clock set, I kinda advanced my 30day trial window. no problem.

I connect and register, it says it went fine, so now the windows is registered.

now I go to update it,

first I got to ATI and get the newest catalyst drivers. install them

next I do the automatic updater. and SP1 is the first thing to do. so I do it; and it installs, now after registering and updating video and OS, I restart it.

gets to the windows screen and the bar comes across; then as always the 3 lights on the keyboard flash; difference is, its ussually after 4-5 scrolls that that happens. but now... its after 1, not even, like .75 across it flashes, and it blanks out by the end of the second scroll. following that a few seconds of blackness followed by the computer restarting.

I tried safemode, no good. checked the bios, nothing changed.

please help, Id like to avoid formatting if possible. also like to avoid calling MS to b*tch as well. I cant go to the restore point that it created cause coincidently it seems you have to be in windows to do that... I did try the start with last known good settings on the safe mode menu, that didnt work.

called MS, they had me repair the install. that fixed it. then they had me download SP1 and try it that way rather than the automated updater.

well then we ended the call while it was downloading. same problem. looks like Ill be calling them back tomarrow.

Did they have you download the full SP1 install, or the Express Installer? I know you said they had you download SP1, but you can manually download the Express Install. If they had you download Express as well, try the full install.

Install Sp1 before any of your drivers. :attn:

Id have to format it to remove all the drivers, and even so, the ethernet wont work without the mobo drivers...

Nah, you could do a parallel install.
