I've had this 9600XT (BBA) for 1/2 a year now, and it has done nothing but treat me wonderfully. I installed a Dynatron 1U heatsink, along with OCZ copper ramsinks and have oc'd the card to 551/331mhz. It runs smooth with no artifacts. The card's temp, according to Overdrive, is ~35c idle and, ~46c during AtiTool's heating up phase. My question is if these are acceptable temps for such an oc'd card, and if you think i might be able to pump a little more juice out of her.

Seems fine to me, I think the Video cards are alot diff from cpu's, where as a cpu 50c is to much but for a video card its fine.
Since the 9600's use .13 core they dont get as hot as the .15's.
Personally i wouldnt worry about those temps, when they get 60c then you should worry.
Lucky me then. my GPU gets so cold sometimes it wont register on Asus smartdoctor. I think its either 29C or 30C it stops registering and havnt seen my ram go above 44C

hmm, you have a seperate ram temp sensor ?? i don't have that :(
my 9600xt runs at 36°C idle... @ stock speed (500 / 325)
Mines Asus. =) i guess they went that extra step. this card was definately worth the money.

oh i c :) but i can't imagine how they can fit a thermal probe onto / below a ram chip...

My XT came from sapphire, and I got tottaly screwed. The thing was built before ATI released the drivers for overdrive on the 9600XT, so sapphire didn't bother to put in any thermal probe  Of course every card that they sent to review sites and anywhere else all had the probes, so it was a total supprise when my card had no temp probes and didn't support overdrive. I contacted sapphire, and their responce was basically that because it didn't say anywhere on their website that the card supported overdrive, they didn't need to. The fact that they fooled everyone by sending cards with the probes to be reviewed seemed to be lost on them.
I have no idea what my GPU temps are, but I do have half a mind to clock the thing to about 1ghz and remove the heatsink. RMA for spite.
