Peltier current draw

In the descriptons of peltiers I have seen it seems that peltier elements draw a riciculous amperage:

(12 V component with 110 watts of power)

What sort of power supply can be used to give enough current to a peltier element? I wouldn't have thought a regular computer PSU can deliver 10-20 amps...

there are several good ways to power a TEC.

I have used

Transformer, capacitors, and a rectifiering bridge.
One ANTEC True power 550W (226w tec)
Two generic ATX PSU in series (120W TEC)
MEANWELL s-320 (226w TEC)

By far I trust the meanwell. THe price is worth the it to me.

I think the coolest way for me was the two cheapo generico 400w PSU powered my 226w tec. It only gave it about 10v which is more than enough to take on any CPU. (I THINK, I am cooling P4s) I run one system on the meanwell at 8.5v which while gaming barly reaches over 0.0F

They do draw the amps. Make sure you are using large wire to connect the PSU to the TEC, and you are cooling the PSU in some way... There should me a few FAQs about tecs
