When I boot my computer after it's been off for 30 minutes or so, I get a ton of bsods and illegal operations. But, after I restart after loading windows, I don't have the problem anymore. (I'm running Win98SE, if that helps at all.)

This hasn't been the case just once or twice.. everytime I want to use my computer, I almost always have to restart. And after restarting, the computer runs fine.

I was wondering if this was just windoze being the usual buggy OS that it is, or if it could be something wrong with my cpu, motherboard, or other piece of hardware. I've eliminated the possibility of RAM isn't causing the problem, because restarting takes always care of it.

Opinions, anyone?

Note to the mods: sorry if this in the wrong section. I wasn't sure where to put it.

I could see it being a PSU problem or a cooling problem. What kind of cooling are you using?

My AMD k6-2 300 Mhz is only oc'ed to 350. I've got a thermaltake 3 on it heatsink and fan combo. (I've been told that's overkill for my processor - but I disagree) Extra vents for increased airflow, and a nice loud 80mm case fan - i forget the extra cfm. It's at least 35 cfm.

the temp readings in bios are out of whack, but the temperatures stay regular.

but I will keep a closer eye on my temperatures now.

Thanks!

Check out to see if your computer is trying to go into stand-by or sleep. I had a similar problem and I found out that my computer was trying to go into stand-by and my USB network adapter was not allowing it. There are many programs that will conflict with stand-by. Look in power manangment in the control panel and see what't up, also look at your BIOS power settings.

I think it was a conflict with sleep, trance. Turns out I set things up wrong with sleep... the computer tried to go to sleep too quickly.
The error messages seemed to have stopped for now. (I hope, I hope, I hope, it stays that way *fingers crossed*)

Thanks for the help!
