I am thinking about ordering two magazines. Either computer shopper or maximum PC, and computer gaming world or PC gamer. In your expierence, what would be better?

I get Maximum PC, computer gaming world, and PC gamer. Maximum PC is by far my favorite, it has reviews of new products, do-it-yourself stuff, and its all around good.

I think PC gamer > Computer gaming world.
PCG is usually longer i think, has less ads, better demos on disc, better reviews, better coverage of upcoming events (E3 etc).

well, im going through magazinevalues.com, so i will not get the CD. I never really like demo CD's. PLus, its too muhc $$ for the mag w/ CD. Now i only play $16 w/out CD!

I think that PC gamer is by far the best gaming/computer magazine out there. It has reviews of new hardware, and tons of games and interesting stuff. I've also received computer shopper, but I wasn't really impressed with it's contents. If you hang out on this forum, I bet you know twice as much as what's written in it and it basicly gives you stuff you already know.

I 've been getting PC gamer for 3-4 years and have just let my scipt expire. Their writing and articles have gotten pretty adolscent oriented, looking for every chance they can to use a "naughty" word. Plus Gamespot has the reveiws and demos months before the mag. If I didn't have DSL for downloads I probably would keep the script for the demos, but recently I just save up a bunch of the CD's and send 'em to my nephew. I had finished FarCry before their reveiw came out. What's the point. The printed matter tends to lag way behind the data and reveiws one can get online these days.
I do subscibe to PC World for general hardware reveiws and how-to's, but my membership here has probably taught and learned me more than all the mags combined. And it's free!

I've read CGW and PCG, and I like PC Gamer the best. I just like the style of writing and the layout of the magazine beter than Computer Gaming World.

PC Gamer all the way. I like how they review hardware, games, and give you some good advice on building comps.

PC Gamer, packed full of content a very good read (their demo cds can have some pretty poor lifeless demos some months though)

I've had PC Gamer since the 1st issue...kinda funny to look back at the old issues and see the old games.

I still like PC Gamer the best, but Maximum PC is also one that I pick up from time to time

I like PC Gamer. PC Accelerator was the best by far though.. too bad it's gone.

I would ignore anything they say about hardware in these magazines though.. for some reason it's like they are all those dumbasses that think they know about computers, but really they are goddamned hardware retards. Kind of like almost all the people that work in computer shops. If you want to know about hardware, come here.

I'm surprised you guys like Maximum PC so much. I got a subscription of it for a xmas present and the only use I can get out of it is that its great for lining bird cages. Most of there crap is slanted (thats how I feel when I read their reviews. I havent read the mag in like months though). Everytime they have a cpu showdown or what not, its like: "Bend over, insert Intel". I'm running on an Intel right now and I see it when I read their articles. I guess I keep up with the news too much as 75% of the crap I read out of it I already know (not there fault they cant write last second tech news). Plus I only trust one source for reviews and thats the people who actually bought the product and tryed it (thankgod for these forums).

I do like PCGamer though! Fun to read. (yea I know its a sister mag to MaxPC)

Yeah, I got Xbox Nation or something like that and CGW for free, though they haven't arrived yet.

I do miss PC Accelerator most of all though. Completely killed PC Gamer. To demonstrate how much PC Gamer sucks, Rob Smith, the EIC for PC Gamer, was regularly made fun of in PCXL (prior to switching to PC Gamer). Anyone remember the article on Drunk Video Game Driving? And they reviewed not only the games but the new force feedback wheels too? That was good quality stuff.
