I have a Super Orb, and I want to replace it should I, is it a bad HSF for Athlon 1.2? Would this Super Orb do good on a Socket 7 CPU, and would it even mount onto the socket?
Last time I checked, the clip length of Socket A HSFs is a little longer than Socket 7 HSFs. You might have to modify the clip or find some other way of securing the Super Orb to, say, a K6-3. Maybe the super-glue-at-the-corners trick or AS2 epoxy might work.

Do u think it would be sufficient cooler for K6-III 400 running @ 450-475 @ 2.7-.8 Vcore?

According to radiate, your K6-3 should output 46W or so, similar to a Duron so no sweat. The upper limit of Vcore in the Radiate program in 2.5V though so it might even be as heaty as 50W.

My girlfriend has a super socket 7 and guess what you can put a socket 370 cooler on it. Don't know about the socket a though but a 370 will fit

Don't think Socket 370 and Socket A HSFs can be interchangeably used.

some can, some can't. Try it and see. I think the orb would be a fine cooler for a K6-3 but not an athlon.

My SocketA DP-Coolermaster fitted nicely on my Socket7 AMD K6-2 450Mhz. I dont think this is the case all the time, just be sure to check for thermal contact before turning your comp on. You wouldnt want the hsf not to be seated right.

No. Socket 7 to socket 370 will work and vise versa

So Socket 7, 370, and A HSFs should be able to swap places with one another, right?

a super orb is a very bad hsf for a 1.2GHz atherlon, , it is not recomemded that you use any sort of orb on a socket7 because they usakky hva e heat spreaders on them that the orbs cannot cover

you should have no reall problem I attached my old orb to my friends p1 200 @266 it was a how to say "snugg" fit thermal paste slipped my mind went to take it off and had a hell of a time but now its wirring away and fine the thing don't even get hot.
funny part was that the heat sink that was on his p200 is now on my chipset even trade.
