now i know the new craze are the NEW 1gigs with 1.4 steppings. but won't ALL new 1gigs have 1.4 stepping? isn't that the logical thing, if they have already started, wouldn't they just keep it up? why are so many people paying MORE for a 1gig than they would for a 1.4?

it is a crazy world, and i am just one of the lucky few that is too insane to notice

I did not know that so which 1 gigs are 1.4 all of the newer ones? If so ur saying that a 1gig would oc just as high as the 1.4 because of the same core, just wondering cause my old 600 with a 650 core would nt oc as high as a a650 that i had? but again thats an old chip

I think he's referring to the AHYJAR-cored 1 GHz chips that have been surfacing.... I've heard of these going as high as 1.7 GHz. Basically what AMD is doing since there's still a significant demand for 1 GHz Tbird chips is they are cutting chips off the same wafer (as the higher grade chips) and basically underclocking them because their yields right now are in the (average) 1.3 to 1.4 GHz range (for spec).

So yeah if you're looking to overclock and can find a 1 GHz AHYJAR chip for under $85 it's probably a pretty good chip to buy. It'll most likely do just as high as the high end TBirds and will probably tide you over until Palomino hits the streets in full force.
