View Full Version : Added sound deadening material and it works!
I have a delta black label and it was just too loud. I cut out the material to size adn used a heat gun to seal it to the metal and now the delta is so much better. no whine just a dull hum. this stuff is used in car stereo shops to get rid of road noise and it does a number on deltas too!

Did you notice any temprature changes resulting from doing this ?

i'm thinking of getting that too. it would be great not to hear the annoying whine of the delta. is there any other way to mount it besides using a heat gun?

Ah, am I glad to hear that! I just got myself 4 square feet of Xtreme Dynamat at Best Buy yesterday...gonna install it after I've done all my l33t modifications. Can you describe where you put it? And do you have any windows on your case? How many intake/out fans do you have? thx

I've used into my case the cheaper tarred panel used by coachworkers with good results on the low frequency.
Dynamat & Noise Killer are the best, but outside USA they cost too much, and are difficult to found.

I only put it in the side panels(behind mobo and infront of mobo. covered the entire panel of the full tower. I have 5 80mm fans, 1 92mm and a ps fan. I didn't cover everything yet because I am still going to do a mod for a 120mm Panaflo in the top and maybe change the lowest 80mm in the front to 92mm. I actually only have three intake and four out so no positive pressure :( with the 120 and I will blow in low on both sides.
temps did not change under load so I am happy.
drawbacks are that now the case is even heavier. the Antec was heavy before now I bet it weights another 10pounds!
you don't need a heat gun a hair dryer works fine :¬)

For anyone who doubted my sound deadening skills. I told you so. As an IASCA car audio enthusiast, I use dynamat all the time...there's nothing better. Glad to hear (pun intended) that it worked out for you.
yeah I still might do the front of the case adn the top just to see if the sound improves a little. My new case will need some too and I am quickly running out of material. any good deals out there? doesn't have to be name brand stuff.
