well just the other day I dug out an old pentium 75 from ibm. and what with living in a house with a bunch of students and it being a weekend, well we didn't have much to do.
So furry asks, "what do you want to do today?"
I replied, "I dunno"
the end result is that we now have a pentium 75 socket 5 processor running at 100Mhz
any questions?
Yes.
What's in the Phugbox?
what are you gonna do with all tha megahertz? all 100!

what am I going to do with the whole 100 mhz? run freebsd on it and run a household dinky fileserver. just because I can.
as for what's in the phugbox, currently are
amd xp 2200+ at stock ( sadly, if you want to know why, ask me )
msi k7n 2 ( not delta )
512 stick of kingston ddr 400
120 gig WD 8 meg cache 7200 rpm
20 gig 7200 rpm ibm deathstar
pioneer 16x dvd-rom
mistumi 32x24x52 cd-rw ( HAHA, as if it's ever burned that fast )
radeon 8500 128 meg.
winfast txexpert 2000xp
amd stock cooling with the base lapped to reveal copper.
logitech z640s
a daewoo 19 inch optically flat crt ( factory black )
a KVS digital sensations 17 inch, ( phug black and it's on it's last leg for the second time)
a 1984 IBM ps2 keyboard ( my pride and joy )
nah, not trying to get it go farther, the board won't support any faster than 100
and as for pelting it, I don't have the resources and time to spend on that.

good for you actually using it for something and not o/c it and then trashing it in your moment(s) of boredom.
maybe I should do something like this for the 486 (or maybe it's a 586 I can't remember) that I was going to make into a router running that FreeSCO software.

the amd is at stock because ever since my board nearly got killed by my old powersupply when it died ( it took out the floppy controller completely ) I haven't been able to get a particularly stable overclock out of it. crashing and bsoding iespecialy during games
I'm going to replace the mobo for my birthday I think, in which case we'll try overclocking it againI was once able to run this combo at 2.2 ghz with a stick of pcc 266 and a 250 watt powersupply. granted, didn't have enough juice to run both ps2 ports at the same time or more than one usb port, and didn't have the power to run the dvi out on the radeon, and ended up unplugging one of my optical drives.. but that's a different story.
yeah, I figured, I might as well use it.
I just need to figure out the best combination for running it as a fileserver, os/ftp software, looking for low overhead.
lately I don't have the energy, or the creativity, or ability to mod an old mobo manually. and as for replacing it, don't particularly want to, it's a non standard mobo, with a lot of builtins, and i don't want to have to go find a new case as well

what is the mobo one of those small form factor ones?

it's not exactly sff, it's about the size of a regular atx, but it's definitely an odd layout with th isa's an pci's on a riser coming out of the middle of the mobo and all the ports lined up one by one along the back edge
