View Full Version : 128 points instead of 239??
OK I'm a little angry about this but its only because stanford dint fix anything on there end.
I've sent in TWO 638 WU's AFTER stanford supposedly fixed there point system, however BOTH were only counted for 128 points not the 239 the Stanford project server page says there worth!
Did Stanford just lie to us and just make it look like their worth more than they are and keep the same point value?
No one else made a thread about this so maybe I dont know something you guys do?

maybe you started these BEFORE they changed the points??? that would be my guess
One of them may have been started before the change came into effect, but the one I just sent into today didnt

Sorry but anything started before the offical anouncement will only get 128 points. The finish time doesn't affect the points. All the p638s I have now are 239 points. We all got bit by this one so it sould be even for all.
does anyone know the exact time they changed it over?

Like many, I pretty much hate Tinkers. All that time and work for not-enough points. But I do what they send me. If you think getting 128 points for p638 is bad, try zero. I turned one in on the 18th; my logs and Stanford's records show that it was turned in. But neither Stanford nor EOC stats show any points given - not 128, not 239. I made a copy of the WU log and considered emailing Stanford about it, but points awarded (or not awarded) is their least concern. When it happened, I considered starting a thread here, but it would have just been a rant.
I'm stilled a bit galled by this, though. 1.5 - 2 days of work for them on my rigs and power bill for nothing. Well, the work is important; all I want is some credit for that work. But, everyone makes mistakes sometimes. Consider yourself lucky if you received any points for it.
/rant off
I dont really care that I only got 128 points from It. I was just a little let down because That would have skyrocketed me in production(I have the 638 WU's on almost every instance except 1 or 2 of my 3 comps running 2 inst. each)
besides that I love getting the higher 200 point tinkers.

I care about the points too but I'm not quitting FAH just because Stanford forgot to update all their finished WU servers. I got full credit for most but not for others that were all sent to me after the new points announcement. EMIII said all were 239 point p638 but some only got 138 as others seem to report. I lost over 1000 ppw last week and might this week too. Sux but what are you going to do?
You should remember (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the point values of WUs are not encoded in any of the data that you download from stanford. The tracking programs (EM3, etc.) will usually get the point values from a separate file downloaded from the tracking program providers. That means that when there is a points change, you have to download a new project file to get the new points, but the tracking programs are not smart enough to distinguish WUs that were issued before or after the points change, they all get reported under the new points, even though some or all of them are really under the old points.
The points change went into affect 6/17 around GMT -5 (3pm EST) If the WU was issued before that, you got the old points... if it was issued after that, you will get the new points. You need to verify the date issued in the FAHlog.txt. I have turned in 106- P638's since the points change and they all have been credited correctly depending on the date issued.
BKPBS, I checked your last set of WU's each CPU turned in and only one P638 was credited at 128 points... it was P638 (166 65 39) You have turned in 4 - P639's and one P1110. I can only see the last WU for each of your CPU's though.
Like many, I pretty much hate Tinkers. All that time and work for not-enough points. But I do what they send me. If you think getting 128 points for p638 is bad, try zero. If you turned in the WU, post over at http://forum.folding-community.org/index.php and Stanford will check into it. (Again, with the log info from the FAHlog.txt) If it was sent and you did not get your points... they will credit you, but posting over here is not going to do you any good, Stanford does not read these forums.
And you are correct actong... thrird party WU trackers may not be correct as they don't go into the details like issued dates, etc.

OC-AMD, thanks for the link to the forum. I think I'm just gonna let it go. It was just one WU, and I can't remember any other points discrepancies since I started folding. I guess I just wanted to vent a little. The project itself is what's important. Now that I've said my piece here among fellow folders, the issue isn't important enough for me to bother the guys at Stanford when they have legitimate work to do. It would be different if this was a frequent problem. Asking Stanford to investigate one WU now seems petty.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. Fold on!
EDIT: Besides, for all I know, I could actually be mistaken. Hard to say since I didn't look into it sooner.
