I notice that the router gives me 10 minutes with a certain ip then renews it and I lose my connection and I have to manually fix it. How can I keep my exact same ip and stop the router from renewing my ip? I've been at it for hours now. It's 2:12AM over here so some usefull help would be grealy appreciated. Thanks

I took the currenly assigned IP from the DCHP and set it to static and put those values in and it works. I'm crossing my fingers it'll stay put and I'll have my stable connection. I miss my old ip address. I have this ugly IP now but as long as it doesn't change I'm happy. :-/
huh?
you can turn off DHCP and make whatever IP you want static, well not any but you certainly can have the one the router gave you before. I would guess something is either wrong with the router or with the settings if it is changing your ip every ten minutes. what router is it?

Check your DHCP client lease time. By default it should be set to 0 which gives 24 hours. Maybe for some reason it got set to 10 which would give 10 minutes of lease time.

I set everything to static and it works fine now even though my DSL line is DHCP. I'm guessing it's just for the modem. The router should be able to configure it's own static?
Yes it is just for the modem. All that means is that you have an IP that can change periodically. You can still use the DHCP in your router as the two will not conflict. This is of course as long as your DSL modem is not also acting as router running DHCP.

You need to revert your firmware back to the 1.45.7 if you use the BEFSR41 v 1 or 2.
PM me if you need the firmware file.
The 1.45.11 firmware has an issue where DHCP will not renew itself as well as issues with many online games.

I'm already using that firmware version. That's where I had the problem on but it's all cool now with the static setting. Thanks for the help guys.
