I know for a fact that TC has experience with an FX51 running SETI. Generally I think the biggest discovery was that it was far more effective running the normal 32 bit Windows client than it was with 64 bit Linux and the supposed 64 bit Linux client, and if I'm not mistaken he also gave the beta 64 bit Windows a try and again didn't show any real gain. I think he was able to get below 1 1/2 hrs. with the Benchmark WU by using some extreme tuning and cooling methods, however you might better wait for him to fill in the details himself.

Yep I got our benchmark unit to complete in about 1:29 overclocked to 2600MHz, which is above the FX53 stock. It's great if you're going for the lowest average work unit time, but a stock P4 3.4 with HT still produces at least 4-5 more units per day. I've also got a 3200+ newcastle, and the reduced cache is noticeable. If you're getting any version of the A64 make sure you get the full 1MB of cache. If you're looking to get one just for seti, your money is better spent on a P4C.

thats a very nice time you have there

Im planning on getting a fx53 & I was just wondering what times might be like. The 53 has a little over 1mb cach, what does your fx have? I don't really do SETI to seriously, I just want a fast rig that crunchs on the side.

thanks for the info:)

The 51 and 53 are identical except for core clock - 1MB L2 cache.

No that was on ice water - the best it would do on air was 2400. I finally sold the chip though.
