what to clean GUNK out with??

OK I did DRAINO... It helped the tubing...

WHat can i use to clean the gunk out of DD lexan toped blocks?

ACETONE???

It will leave smears on the lexan.. Tested on scrap. Plus i might need to use some sort of "scrubing" device....

Should I just remove the top and risking cracking it?

My system is just sitting there in peices waiting for a cleaning way.....

What's in them (chemicals) ? Or what is their equivalent in Europe ?

If you want a "scrubbing" thing, go to a pet store to their fish section. You may find a long metal flexible rod with bristles on it. Aquarium guys have similar problems with their tubing as well.
