Hey All...

I got the X800 Pro recently, and I noticed the temperatures in my rig were a little higher than when my 9700 Pro was in it. Now, I could have sworn that I read these x800s would have better cooling because of the core technology, but the other part of me understands that the more powerful the GPU, the hotter it should get.

Bottomline, I have been thinking about removing the stock cooling on the x800 Pro, and putting in the Zalman Heatpipe (ZM80C-HP) with the Fan (ZM-OP1), but do not want to start it unless I get some confirmations from the gallery on whether or not it would be worth it in the goal to a) keep the GPU cooler, and thus b) keep my rig cooler.

Also, I am not sure if someone has successfully placed this cooling on the X800 pro yet.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Although I've never used that particular product...

I've used several other Zalman products and never been satisfied with them.

I recommend using one of the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencers.

Lots of people use them with great results (from what I've read)

Or you could just do what some of us do, and water cool your x800 :)

Thanks for the linky, Docta. Now, has it been confirmed that the VGA Silencer fits the x800 Pro?

Yes Sir.

I haven't attached my waterblock to it but the X800 seems to have exactly the same mounting holes as the 9800 series.

This has been confirmed by tons of people.

Keep in mind: that link I sent was from a Canadian Site - Probably a lot cheaper in your american dollars.

Also: when you change heatsinks make sure you slap some of that high quality arctic silver 5 on there. :attn:
