View Full Version : Status of Slot 1 CPUs?

I've stockpiled a bunch of BE6-II (Ver. 2.0) and P3B-F (Rev. 1.04) boards, but I have just one 700 chip. What is the status of these 100 FSB CPUs, are they being discontinued?

I know the 700 is getting pretty hard to find. Should I pick up an 800 or 850 cCO while I can? I presume Intel will not make cDO steppings of these chips.

I know the 1.0 gig 100 FSB SECC 2 is out, and it's a cCO, but they are pretty expensive. Will Intel make a cDO? Besides, it more fun to hit 1 gig with a higher FSB.

Looking to sell one?

I'm pretty sure Intel has already ceased production of all slot chips. I think the cdo is only being put into the pga packaging. They announced several months ago that slot inventory should be pushed out.

~Welcome to the forums~

You can always use a Slot 1 to Socket 370 converter.
Asus makes a good one.:D

Guess I better pick up those Slot 1s while I can.

I got a Slocket adapter too, but I heard the traces are farther away from the motherboard socket so it may affect performance. Plus, I just invested in a PAL3125 cooler so I want to get some mileage out of it. But true, I can always get more mileage out of the board with them.

As for the boards, sorry, not for sale. I imagine I can get a good price for them. I think over the last 2 days, a BE6-II is up to $150 on Ebay (it's not even a version 2.0), and Compuplus was shrewd enough to auction off that P3B-F for over $170. Geez, they didn't even list the revision on the thing.

Yep, Intel stopped production of the slot1's a while back (well, last year anyways). I think they still provide support for them, but they're slowly fading/ phasing them out.

WoW the price may justify my selling my Be6 to get a p4 board.

PS I dont think the BX is taht great.

If you are into QuakeIII and still have a PentiumIII chip, the 440BX is King. It outperforms an 815, and 820 and 840 chipset with RDRAM in frame rates. The board may be 'obsolete', but the QuakeIII engine will be used on a lot of the new games coming out.

Plus there's new life in these boards since PowerLeap has come out with their Slot 1 adapter that allows the Tualatin to be used. It remains to be seen how well it will work.

I got some Tonicom PC-166 ram and I just found a retail SL44Y Malay 600E. I'm gonna see if I can hit 166-170 FSB like some guys did (or claimed) in the ole days. It's a backup system so I can blow it up. And I got a bunch of Voodoo5 PCIs to get around the overclocked AGP bus. Plus the Voodoo5 ramps up with processor/FSB speed up to 1.4 gig.
