I don't know for sure, but I think its the end of 3rd(?) quarter. Intel is supposed to bring new chips or something like that, and it will make other prices drop.

Intel will try to drop prices of most of it's CPU line, especially the Pentium 4 CPUs. They aren't selling nearly as well as Intel would have liked them to. The P4 was supposed to replace the PIII completely by April or May of this year; they still barely account for 10-15% of all computer sales. Part of the reason is the relatively good performance of the PIII parts, the high prices of the P4 parts, and the overall superior performance of the Athlon CPUs.
Another biggie is RDRAM - since only Rambus memory has been supported on P4 motherboards until soon in the future, the complete system cost is also high.
I, too, am looking forward to the price cuts - rumor has it the 1.3 P4s will easily hit over 1.7 while at 133FSB on certain motherboards :)

Good news, I read the drops are supposed to occur near the end of August, not September. Please be true. Sure hope PIIIs are affected too
Are you guys talking about the FC-PGAs? Must be, because it is difficult, if next to impossible, to find the Slot 1s anymore. I just bought an 800 PentiumIII, 100 FSB, SECC 2, retail from the one place that had it. Nobody else had them.
When I go into Akihabara, Japan this weekend, I'm also picking up an 850 cCO Slot 1 retail.
Anybody know how long the supply of 1000 mhz, 100 FSB, Slot 1s will last? Should I pick one up soon too?
I'm avoiding any OEM stuff since they may be chips that was tested to not overclock and sent back to a supplier.
I don't like the FC-PGAs, since you can't go over 133 FSB with the Slocket adapters.
Clevor what are you talking about? I have been over 133 fsb wih three different types of sloket adapters. And flip chips are generally a better overclocker.
I heard end of August, but not from an official source.
Either way, Intel doesn't have a choice with the growth of AMD and losing $$s everyday to an equal yet cheaper proc.

http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1266192626 I wouldn't have taken the risk, the seller has no feedback. Only 5 hours left
