Worth it to get 9800SE and soft mod it?

Just curious if this is worth it, if I get rid of my 9600Pro and get a 9800SE. I heard there's a 50/50 chance soft modding it will cause artifacts or make it a super cool "pro" version. If artifacts appear, is there a way to get rid of the artifacts with better cooling... etc?
