For OS and overclocking reasons, one 512 mb stick would probably be best. From what I know, Windows 2000 likes having lots of memory, contrary to 98 and ME. It's also better for overclocking since there's only one chip to worry about hitting the speeds you want

I am running win 2k on my notebool, a IBM thinkpad Celeron 366 with 256 memory and it runs awesome, it is the operating system thats for sure. I do alot on the go, compressing video and converting from mpeg to vcd mpeg, but on my desktop I have 2x256 crucial pc2100 ddr ram and I run win 2K and it is sweet..

go 512 if ya can afford it 2 sticks of the same and at min 256 , win2k does like to use mem,,,, my 2 cents worth

When I originally bought some PC133 RAM there, it was a great price, and they shipped it promptly, and everything was fine. Then when that RAM went bad, returning it was a nightmare! I figured at the same time I was returning it, I would upgrade to PC150, and got it okay'ed with a manager there. 3 Days after I _know_ they recieved it (because of the tracking number) I called, and they said they'd shp it out tomorrow. A week later nothing had arrived, and so I call them up and THEY SAID THEY NEVER RECIEVED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!! When I eventually got that sorted out, they charged me $20 more for the upgrade than previously agreed upon. STAY AWAY FROM BUYAIB!!

I ordered from this company despite the bad reviews I read. I thought "How could they screw up a flopy drive"? I disregarded the bad evaluations because the drive was cheap and they had the most reasonable shiping. Which was still bad for a single 3.5" floby drive. When I got the drive and got it installed, it would read disks fine but would not report the full 1.44mb capasity nor would it format any disks. It's going to cost me more than 7 bucks to send it back to them because of their required return recipt of delivery. Then I am going to have to wait for another replacment drive but there is no geaurantee that it will work. I called at 6:30pm pacific coast time and their answering service just keeped transfering me around without leting me know if they even operated after hours. I never got to speak to a real person after being on the phone for more than ten minuets. I will never buy anything from this co. no matter how good of deal it is because in the long run it is going to cost me a lot more than another co. with a better rating from ResellerRatings.com.

Same old story...Ordered Highpower brand 400 watt PSU advertised on buyaib's site. It includes the Highpower name brand & model number - even same overview posted from the manufacturers (Highpower) site. Received generic. Emailed them 4 times with 1 response of a "call customer service for return." They want to charge me a restocking fee and not credit me for shipping. Now I find 2 other people (other than those posting on reseller ratings) that buyaib has done the same thing to with this PSU.

If you buy from buyaib - KNOW you get the shaft!!

This site has false advertising. They claim to be selling a name brand product and then send a cheap generic product in it's place. They do not answer their email.

Bought the High Power 400 watt power supply and was shipped a no name power supply instead. No explanation - no 'sorry - out of stock' notice. They must've thought I wouldn't notice? Tried to email several times, but they won't respond.

They won't get anymore business from me!

A friend of mine ordered 2 256MB sticks from this company. Received both in a reasonable amount of time, however they will not run in the same machine together. Run one, run the other, but not both. Then, on top of that, neither of them will run at greater than 100MHz. Both were sold as PC-133 DIMMS. Essentially, for what they were bought for (an Athlon with 133MHz bus), they are...junk...for this reason.

I ordered a 256mb stick of generic pc133 memory from buyaib.com (Alpha International Business). The memory arrived fine and I had no problems with the order or shipping however the memory had several bad addresses. After many, many emails I got virtually no response from customer service and only after threatening to report them to the BBB did they respond offering a refund. I shipped the memory back to them and they never put the refund over to my credit card. Several more emails got me nothing so I then went to the credit card company who finally got me the refund. All this took over 4 months and approximately 50 emails! Don't let the low prices sucker you in. I would definitely NOT recommend this company to anyone!

I was unhappy with the product and shipping terms, i ordered 2 power supplies and one was DOA, i explained my unhappiness to them and unwillingness towards a replacement power supply, plus my dissatisfaction with their high shipping fee. I asked them to refund my money for one power supply and half shipping cost, they apologized profusely and refunded my money in full. I will do business with them again for this very honerable act.

This is my first post on this site after spending many hours reading them. I am building my first computer using parts from various resellers.

I was nervous ordering from THIS company with not much ratings data here about it.

THE ORDER

I received an email invoice the day after I placed my order and a UPS tracking number the following day. The product arrived about 3 days later nicely wrapped. I did not talk to a sales rep.

I ordered 256 MB generic Ram PC 133 for a Duron 800 system I am building. My price was $45 from PriceWatch.com, shipping was $11. So even if shipping really costs about $3 then a price of $53 is still good. I guess it was the lifetime warantee that interested me.

I was considering getting CAS 2 Micron, (as Sharkysextreme.com recommends) memory for $40 more but PC Gamer recommends generic memory for their basic Celeron and mid level Athlon systems.

I have not installed the ram yet, but if there is any problem I will update this. It was a pleasent buying experience.

PS

I purposely ordered a Teac CDRW drive from another company(NOT BUYAIB.com) with a 2.9 rating today because the price was very good. Another company had a similar price but just as bad ratings, so I chose the company with more ratings.

I was reading all the bad ratings to the sales rep over the phone saying that I wanted to be the one to give them a good rating. Has anyone used this type of stategy effectively with other resellers?

I ordered Samsung memory at a great price, but received memory SIMMS manufactured by an unknown third party using Samsung chips. The prices I got were just a few bucks more than their generic SIMMS. A few weeks later, they raised the Samsung chip prices by over 100%, while keeping the generic memory at the same low price. I use a program called ctspd to read the onboard EEPROM from any memory SIMM. When the manufacturer's name is not included in the EEPROM, it means that a third party produced the SIMM. I'm told that Samsung puts their name in each SIMMS EEROM they manufacture. Basically, I ordered Brand name memory and recieved generic memory at a generic price. I hope this comment helps anyone ordering memory from any company. Does the NEW price get you Samsung manufactured memory? I don't know.
