can placing a k6-3 in a board that came out when only k6-2's were around cause any problems
i traded my buddy a k6-3 450 for his k6-2 350 and 20 bucks

he popped it in his Spacewalker HOT591-P mobo and had frequent lock ups he brought it into a comp store (duh) and all they did was clock it down to 400 because they said it was running to hot, it still locked up so i gave him one of my old HSF's and it ran ok, but he still gets lockups (running at 400 mhz)

if he clocked it back to its original 450 could it help
or is it the k6-3 thing causing the problem
i dunno how these old systems work or anything, i dont really know the diff between k6-2 and k6-3
im thinking theres not much, just like the cache or something similiar to the duron athlon difference, and they go in the same mobos and this is a run on sentence hehe

any help would be appreciated!

Since the motherboard recognizes the CPU you're off to a good start. Make sure that you have adequate cooling and then bump the Vcore up a bit, I've been successful at 2.7 unless it's a "+" series CPU (intended for laptops), with these I limit the Vcore to 2.5.

Good Luck!
