View Full Version : Prescott vs Extreme Edition
I haven't been back to the CPU boards since the Prescott(sp?) came out and never really did get a reliable turn out on it.. but basically what im looking to do is upgrade for better gaming preformance since i hear the CPU's are gonna be the bottleneck for my X800 XT IF I EVER GET IT !!! :bang head ... but anyhow i was either going to shoot for an EE or a prescott, what im wondering if the EE is THAT much better to spend that much more on it.. i actually have about 900 to spend... but one thing is dont tell me to get an AMD please.. i know and have heard a million times, i have been thinking about it but not sure if i want to go that deep..
With the IC7 and watercooling, you might wanna check out the new D0 stepping Prescotts. Lots cheaper and they seem to do quite well against the EE's. If you can hold off a few days, there are several of us that have them ordered. We will be posting how well they do (or don't do) very soon.
been reading a few posts about that. thought they were not socket 478? well deal is im building a PC for someone else and they are getting my old processor, gives me a chance to make a decent amount back for my old processor and gonna use the extra cash i got now to invest in something else.. how long exactly will the wait be? and will they be available ?
Edit:basically what that means is if i wait for a processor to release then they would have to wait on me to get mine lol.. since the only one i have right now is the one im running, which isnt a good thing really
All of the new socket LGA775 Prescotts are the new D0 stepping. Some of the D0 stepping socket 478 CPUs are starting to trickle out. I might have mine by Saturday... perhaps Monday at the latest.
Where can i get ahold of one of these s478 D0 prescott's?
PM me and I'll send you the email to the guy I'm buying mine from. He has a couple 3.4E D0's and I think a few 3.0E D0's last I heard. Ask for the specific s-spec: 3.0E=SL7E4 and 3.4E=SL7E6.
