So whats the deal? ATI slapping r360 on every 9800 Pro for cheaper production? I just got a new BBA 9800 Pro & not only does it have a r360 core it also has Hynix memory. Could be off, but seems like they are just using the same core for all 9800 Pro's & for the pro's now they just slap the cheap Hynix memory on.

I did flash the card using Club3d's 9800XT bios because I have Hynix memory........I don't get the temp monitoring enabled (overdrive feature). But it does show as a XT & I get 300-500 more points in 3dmark with the card showing as a XT oppose to gigacube's bios or something.

I think I might shoot for a different bios tonight to see if I can get the overdrive feature to work.

Any thoughts?

cool cool. but the overdrive feature should work as far as I am aware.
but you dont really need the temp senor anyway. run the card as an xt now :) and if all is good fro 2 days o/c it a little more

Club3d XT bios 3dmark (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2694529)

Gigacube bios 3dmark (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2694292)

Using 4.6 ATI Cat.....not 300-500 difference but a few hundred points...

I wish that was the case. I thought I was the only person in the oc world who got a R350 Sapphire 9800Pro from newegg. Then SpaceRangerJoe got one too, and I was under the impression that the R360 slapping had stopped.

I do have hynix memory tho. Supposedly it can do 400Mhz, but all I can get out of it is 355. J u s t too low for me to try XT flash... :-(

Well don't feel to bad. I'm not seeing 400mhz out of the memory on mine. I only had last night to test the card out but I don't think 400mhz is do-able based on my findings last night. I'm going to put copper heatsinks on the memory, like in the past though, does not make a huge difference at all.

I would be curious to find out what bios people have flashed to with 9800 Pro & r360 core also with Hynix memory. If anyone has feedback regarding this, feel free to post results. I would more then appreciate it!!

well the 128mb 9800XT bioses does not enable the overdrive feature. If you are using a 128mb 9800XT, you can still monitor temps in ATI Tool. That's what I do now, I just keep it in my taskbar.

I thought I read someone saying they got the overdrive feature to work by doing this, but I was wrong & misread information.

i flashed with an HIS BIOS as mine is an HIS card.. it had a R360 and Hynix 2.5ns ram as far as i can tell..

i already had the card running faster than an XT anyway. so didnt make a massive difference.. about 200-300 3dmarks maybe.
