View Full Version : Looking for comments on my cooling rig
Well being new to water cooling I'm looking for comments and info on keeping my Tbird cool.
I'm using the AquaStealth II Water Cooling Kit
to cool my AMD 1.2 And from what I've read my temps don't seem that bad.
Right now running at 1.333 1.81volts
Room Temp: 24c
Case Temp: 26c
CPU Temp: 35c idle 40c load
Also I can't get it running any higher then 1.33 without lockups, but i think that it might be a power supply problem. I know all my other parts can do it.

It looks like a tight setup man, real nice, good temps too. The only thing I can think of is a larger radiator might drop you temps a few degrees more. Do you have a duct in front of the radiator? (It's hard to see.) If you wanted you could sandwich the radiator with another fan blowing into it fom the front. Personally I probably wouldn't even bother, 40*C load is pretty sweet as is.
Thats a sweet lookin rig with some good healthy components. Your temps are very good for load temps. I would be completely happy if i could keep system at 40c orlower under load with a whole incase water setup. The only thing i think of to increase your cpu speed is more voltage but that brings more heat as well. Your choice.

Hello,
Good looking rig ! I noticed your using metal clamps. If you have them in the reservoir, they will rust for sure. The only exception to that is if they are stainless. I haven't seen a vendor with quality stainless clamps anywhere these days. I would recommend you use plastic clamps or even good tie raps to secure your lines in the reservoir.

Thats a good question about the hose clamps in the reservoir. I never looked in it to check it out.
But I will remember that for the next one I put together. Just hope the water wetter will keep it from getting too bad.
Right now I'm working on putting this into a new Lian Li PC-70 case and changing the radiator to a AquaCoil II radiator. Plus I might add a 156watt
peltier to it someday.
I don't like the idea of dumping hot air into the case so I'll install it into the top rear above the power supply and have the 120mm Panaflo fan pulling the air out. And will have a 120mm Panaflo in the front of the case pulling fresh air in.
So far water cooling has been fun but it cost me the socket lugs on my KT7A and a sweet 1gig TBird plus some hair from the top of my head.
Are those large black things on the hose going to the radiator some type of valves? What purpose do they serve?
Looks like a good setup and awesome temps.
Those black things are Eheim Quick release valves.
Someone gave them to me. Too bad they didn't give me a Eheim pump.
I can fill and drain the system from them and bleed the air out without too much of a mess. I didn't know how well it would work, but you never know till you try.

Hello Again,
I would not get excited about " water wetter " My own experience with it was not good. At the proper mixture I believe it caused a pump failure. I am not sure but the failure happened one day after adding it. Further more I did not see any improvement in temps. ( by the way your numbers are very good ) I would work on keeping them there.

Where did you get those blacklights? I just put together my water rig and that would make a nice addition to it.
You can pick them up in any AUTOZONE or PEP Boys.
I can't remember but I think they were $15 each
One is a blue neon light and the one on the bottom of the case is a black light.

I was thinking of adding the UV dye to the water to make it glow. But I hear mixed things about it, like messing up the seals on the pump.
I'm thinkin of going to water,
but looking at these temps I'm a lil confused because I thought they were supposed to be alot lower than that.
I have my T-Bird 1.2 runnin at 1.37 air cooled with a tiesol forgged delta 38.
and I idle at 28 and full load at 42C
It's the bios version for the KT7A that I use that give me higher temps. But they are still not that bad.
With the ABit KT7A 3R bios they have turned off the (HLT) command (That command will give you a lower temp at idle by putting the CPU to sleep. But it has nothing to do with load temps.)
But it has it problems. They have found out that AMD CPU's over 1.2 can lockup when the command is turned on.
If I let the (HLT) do it thing these would be my temps.
AMD Tbird 1200 vcore 1.81
Room Temp: 24c
Case Temp: 26c
CPU Temp: 26c idle 40c load
Now with my PC I would have to up the vcore to 1.81 to keep it from locking up on bootup
But with the (HLT) off I can run at default speed and 1.75 volts and my temp would be.
Room Temp: 24c
Case Temp: 26c
CPU Temp: 33c idle 37c load
