last night i attempted the dirty-punk vdimm mod and the 5-volt booster.

there was just one problem, the solder would not stick to any of the solder points.

i am using some decent solder, so what would be causing this?

do the solder points need to be cleaned/ruffed up a bit with sandpaper? or should i just try some new solder?

thanks.

what kind of solder did you use?

what kind of solder did you use?

figured out what the problem was.

the tip i was using on my soldering iron must have been run "dry" for a while, and this was causing issues with the solder bonding properly.

the problem has been rectified and the volt mod is now a sucess

still wondering about any long term consequences of the dirty punk vdimm mod for the nf7-s, as i've heard that it is throwing large amounts of voltage through one mosfet........

anyone who is running this mod for a couple of months please let me know if you have experienced any problems, or if you think i should just do a "real" VR mod instead.

thanks

*edited "wolt" to "volt"

well i removed the mod because i could not go much higher. i think i need to do the vtt mod, so when i actually get around to doing that i'll also do the proper vdimm mod with the resistor. my 3.3 line is typicall 3.45 so i didn't want that much voltage going through the ram anyways, even with my customs ram cooling enclosure and fan.

my personal opinion is stay away from the wire only mods, just a crappy alternative to more functional "proper" mods.

Yea the real vdimm will be much better. If you are planning on running 3.4+ vdimm then make sure your psu can handle it, it must have .2 above whatever you run. I was told there is an onboard limit to that. Mine needed it as well.
