I have 256 megs crucial 133. I am looking to go a bit faster. What is the best RAM as far as speed and reliability. I tried to get my hands on some Tonicom 166, but I think it is impossible now. Any suggestions?

Tonicom is the best but its near imposible to find. Kingmax makes a decent stick of ram for a reasonable price. Mushkin would be my pick but the price can be way to high for the pc150 222 stuff. My tonicom will do 160 222 no problem. The only place you may find tonicom is ebay.

I don't know why they are STILL advertising that they have Tonicom! I ordered some from them, and they sent me something else. I called and they said that they are out of stock and I need to send what they sent me back if I didn't want it and they would credit my card. They said they would have it in stock in a couple of weeks and I was on the waiting list. So, I called back in a couple of weeks and they told me they were still out of stock. I asked when it was expected to be in, and the guy said "it looks like it might not be in at all". Go figure.

UPDATE: I just called them and they said "it's been discontinued and we are taking it off the website"

I have 256MB of Kingmax Tiny BGA PC150 SDRAM. It is very stable, very high performance, and it oc's extremely well. I have found the weakest link to oc in my PC. It is my old Maxtor ATA33 hard drive. Everything else is newer, but the old HD. I have been stable at 145 2-2-2 but can get no higher. I do not believe it is the new ram. I eventually reformat and reconfigure my system to use the new IBM 60GXP 60GB HD. Sooner the better I guess.:D

Micron ram is where almost all ram comes from whether design or use, heck even crucial ram comes form Micron ram. So by far, Micron ram is at the top3 but the only thing I'm still wondering is if they plan to make a 512MB SDR PC133CL3 model.

I JUST ordered 2 of the Kingmax PC150 256mb modules
from that link.

My current Crucial memory, (2 of the micro 256mb modules), will
do 140fsb at CAS2, but wont run stable at 150 unless I put
the timing at CAS3....

I will see if I get any improvement with the Kingmax chips without
any other changes to the system and let youse know if it is
worth doing or not.

Since BOTH of these Kingmax chips are going to cost less than
I paid for either of the other chips last year, and I am going
to build me a spare system for heads up gaming and backup
anyways, this seems like a good buy to me.

Too bad they don't have that 166 stuff in stock.....:(

Any Ideas ??

can you give us some specs?
it is normal that when you oc your mobo (fsb) your usb cant hold it ... just put your mouse in its ps/2 like it is made for ... problem solved

there are lots tons of Tonicom 166 in HKgolden center. they're HK$300 for a 128MB one. that's around US$40.
