I'm gettin ready to lap my HSF and the only thing I can find is 800grit sandpaper....is that good enough?

i think 800grit is far too coarse for lapping, you really should look for 1600 wet/dry or better, go to your hardware store they should have it.

I used 800 grit w/d to start out with and finished with 1500 w/d,You can get it at most auto parts stores or go to the auto dept. at Walmart like i did. Get something as flat as you can get to do it on like a piece of glass or something like that.

800 is ok to start with...you need a finer grit to finish it....I actually used 600 to start and 1000 to finish on my old alpha....1500 would be better.

How do you "lap" a heatsink and how much does it gain??

i used 800/1000/1200 wet and got good results
