I have a very tight budget right now, I want to upgrade my 7500, basically something to hold me over until next January or so. I was wondering if it would be worth it to go with a 8500 128MB DDR, I can get one fairly cheap ($59.99). If you can suggest something better for under $110 it would be greatly appreciated.

What shall I do? Thanks

If you want more speed than IQ then get the GeForce 4 Ti4200 instead (or any of the Ti4x00 cards if you can find a faster one), however if you want more IQ than speed then get the Radeon 8500 or the 9100 (NOT the 9000 or 9200).

I would get the 8500 128 personally , still a decent card, or look for a used Ti4200 for say $50

But if the 8500 is new grab it

I like my Ti4200 :) But yes, 9000's aren't worth it, that's the card I previously had. From what I heard the 9000 was just a dumbed-down 8500 so ATI could have a base card for there 9000 serious.

Where do you live I might have a radeon 8500le 128mb 300/250 moded with socket 7 heatsink and fan on gpu and some 'ramsinks". It doesnt look the best but it performs pretty good. I get 11.5k in 2k1 on a 3.6Ghz P4, 9.6k on a 2.4Ghz cpu.

I was going to try to sell it for 50 canadian dollars which is much less then 50 american. Its a DDR card btw and in case you're wondering it is overclocked from 250/200 to the 300/250 i mentioned I even flashed the bios with the same version that it came with (best for this card i looked) to 250/250 (ram +50) but I can flash it back if you prefer stock speeds.

No volt mods or anything and I don't mind if you are not interested I might still not be able to sell it, as it depends where you live. If you are interested please contact me, thanks.

As far as I'm concerned the 8500 is better for you if you care about AF because it has a very very small hit on performance but the 4200 at no af no aa when compared to the 8500 no af, aa is faster by about 1500 points in 2k1 but the 8500 owns with with AF on.

I prefer a new card rather than used, thanks anyway.
