Well I have small problem.

Basically after the OS has been running for a few hours, havent managed to time it exactly yet, it becomes impossible to start any programs and a lot of other stuff seems to stop working as well. I can't even use ctrl-alt-del.

The problem disapperares with restarting the computer but is back after a few hours again.

The message says something about being unable to initiate the program and then gives a number looking like 0x0000017. However the exact number changes between the times it occurs.
Note: this is a "translation" since my original message is in swedish...

I have had hardware problems that seems to have fixed themselves. I have been unable to explain what can have caused them.(the computer has been moved, although the problem didnt occur directly after a move, but started somewhere in between moves.)

I was hoping there is a way beyond reinstalling the OS to solve the problem. Like replacing a corrupt file or anything else in that direction.

Thx in advance for any help.

Anything in the event logs to explain what's happening?

There are errors under the system part from earlier today that says to "heir" from "ipnathlp", or at least thats what it claims as a source.

Also there are massive amounts of warning from the DHCP from early this morning.

Also yesterday there are also errors giving "DCOM" as source.

All under the system part.

In the other two sections, security and programs i see nothing else then information. No varnings or erros i cant explain by my own activities.

Dcom?

Are you patched with all the over flow patches?

Run windows update and make sure you've got all the critial patches in stalled.

Well, fire up the windows update from the start menu and see if any patches are waiting to be downloaded.

If there are some then you've probably got it solved.

Do you run a firewall?

check for adware and viruses.

disconnect your internet for a while and see if the crash's stop. it does sound like someones exploiting a windows vulnerability. it also wouldnt hurt to do a chkdsk. click start, run, type cmd and then type chkdsk /f and then hit y. restart your computer and it will do a scandisk.

i have already done chkdisks...

only servicepack 1 i waiting, however i'm unable to get it... :/(and i dont expect to be able to solve that particular thing...)

However the idea that someone or something(although Norton hasnt found anything, yet. Nor ad-aware) interests me. This feels somewhat like when i did get MSBlast(i can be proud to say i got it before norton knew about it, officially at least...)

So i might try that one...

btw i have since last time had complaints that some dll-files in the system32 isnt proper "memory images" or something. Anyway that was the reason given when trying to open help... ONe of the names given of the file was sxs.dll.

i'll continue to shove around and hopefully i'll get it solved :)

Thx for the help so far... :)
