Will the Palamino (Athlon 4) be worth to buy ?

Well so far I burn't all my motherboards up soldering etc... cause im unexperianced and no one basically taught me lol azzkiker tried to help me thoe :-) thx azzkiker hehe. Well I have an 1.2 AXIA-9 and 1.33 AXIA-Y and 1.4 AYHJA-K all (266fsb) will the palamino be worth buying or stick with what I have now for a lil while , Iam runing an Iwill motherboard rite now.Shall I wait for the claw hammer or sledge hammer or buy a thorough bred or palamino in the near future I duno when to stop upgradeing. The thorough bred is gona have 0.13 micron technology and the palamino will have 0.18 i belive but they both will have SSE and SSE2 support is this a big thing do I really need the SSE support or no? Thx for your help guys sorry if I typed this up bad im not thinking correct rite now im just upset about my asus and epox boards :-(

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade unless I got a performance boost of at least 50%. If you have the money to throw around and you want to be a patriotic citizen and help boost the economy, upgrade every month. :D

No way! Your mod didn't work out?? It was the really small, teeny resistor array? I soldered them on my A7M, but had the benefit of soldering them at work using smt equipment. Still wasn't easy though. Did you lift a pad?

I'd wait a couple of months after it comes out. You have a 1.4 already, so the difference won't be too huge for awile.

I belive the solder was touching both legs where I was gona do the voltage mod and I happened to over solder cause i couldn't get the pot w/the wire to stay on the leg. Now im kinda mobo less my Iwill works like crap it gives me blue screen freezes its the 1st DDR mobo ever made and it sooks I updated its bios also. It says booting from cdrom some times when i startup or it won't even startup.Im not even overclocked now = (. I got my sweet swiftech block today wich i can't use cause the Iwill won't let me overclock far any way so its a waist of time. Im gona sell my 1.2Ghz AXIA - 9 and 128 DDR samsung ram w/ shim if any one wants it for $135,and I ship the package to you :-) via USPS. Btw everything listed there is brand new except the shim. My 1.2 came from RMA about 1 month ago from AMD its a 266fsb btw.If any one wants to buy it from me , email me at ReTiCuLeX@si.rr.com

have you guys thought of the overclocking potential behind the palmino? these things are suposed to run at 1.4 volts and be much cooler. Just think of how high they will go before they crap out!!!!!! I think after the palmino release we will be seeing many overclocks in execcse of 2GHz:p

2ghz is nice...but i might just go for the cheeper duron and push it to the max...and later one upgrade to a athlon4....i have done it allready i gota 700duron overclocked that to the max and then upgraded to a 1ghztbird and overclocked it slightly since my setup is oldskool.

ya id wait till the 0.13 core are released cause yes the pal will come out at 1.53ghz but when we are this high you wont notice a big difference from a overclocked 1.4 and a Pal 1.53, so id wait till the New core comes out for a big improvement

OMG....... excuse me for the *omg* but IT WORKS!!!!!!! MY ASUS IS ALIVE AGAIN...... I BELIVE ITS AN ACT OF GOD. Excuse all the god comments its what I belive happened , being catholic I kept praying well I duno now my asus works.Im so happy guys. Sorry for all the god stuff but I can't belive how its alive now !!!!! =) weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I don't need to sell my cpus now w000000h0000 =)

I think the palamino will be worth it , when it hits 1.7Ghz I think im gona buy one. The core runs really cool I read from a bunch of websites and they belive the 1.53 will hit 2Ghz no problem. One bad thing is if you up the voltage too high on the pal it could break cause the core is made to run cooler.Any more info I find ill post .

I run the 1.2@1.458 MP Palomino on an Epox 8K7A board. The performance of that system is far better than my KT7A 1.4@1.622. I am definately going to replace more of my systems with the Palomino chips as soon as the 1.5's come out. Running Seti@home 24/7, the Palomino is 30% faster, on identicle work units, than my KT7A.

The chip is simply awesome.

Ok im convinced lol im gona get a 1.53 pal now when its realeased my dad will buy it I explained how the core keeps cooler giving me a better overclock. I also toldem about the SSE and SSE2 and the 0.13micron technology it looks like ill be geting my self a pal about 2 weeks after its realeased Muahahha!

Errr.

The Palamino has only SSE1 on a 0.18 micron process. It does use 20% less power and there for generates less heat. The Thoroughbred/Appalooza cores will be based on 0.13 micron and the Sledge/Clawhammer will use SSE2.

I wana get a palamino the core runs cool so I guess that should mean 2Ghz =). If I don't buy one im waiting for the 2Ghz thorough bred.Iam kinda dissapointed it don't have SSE2. The morgon looks kool and stuff from what i heard it don't overclock well at all the most you can get from the morgan 1ghz is 1050 lol wow big overclock there hehe jk.I really got my eye on a sledge hammer or claw hammer it has QDR bus 533x4 I heard from some site. Im trying to find that site again damn I lost it.
