Hardware Facts below...
CPU: Intel Pentium III-866Mhz@1143 Mhz [SL4CB Costa Rica]
VCore : 1.75 [now running @ 1.85]
Average CPU-Temp : 54°C
Mainboard : EPOX EP-3SPA3
Memory : 2x 256 PC-133 INFINEON [now running @ 131-132]
CPU-Cooler : PAPST DP5-6H51P
Note : This is the best solution I´ve found. I guess the CPU could run even fasten, but above 176Mhz FSB Windows won´t start.
This system runs nice since 2 days! Without any problem!!! I´ve testest some games [NFS Porsche, UT] and a couple of Software and Applications [Office 2000, SiSoft Sandra 2001, Photoshop 6.0, Dr. Hardware 2000, Norton Utilities 2001 etc.].
Screenshots from Benchmarks can be seen if you want.
That´s all from me 4 now! :-)
best regards to @ll of you from Berlin [Germany]

I'd be concerned with that CPU temp. Nice overclock though...real nice.

hmm... 54°C/129°F that´s cool! Why are you concerned about?
Is there maybe someting I don´t know? *g*
Intel idicates this CPU with a max. of 75°C... so what´s the matter? *hehe*
Maybe the sensor on this board tells ****, ´coz "un"overclocked at 866Mhz the CPU is running at 46-48°C.

well, for me i would said 54C was a bit higher especially during summer time. :) try to reduce a bit for the temperature like below 50C then it will great!! :) one last thing, good OC'ing!!!

I think your temps are high too. Its best to keep a overclocked CPU below 40c at full load. When you start overclocking your CPU cannot handle the heat it could before, you wont fry it but it may become unstable. As far as what Intel says is max temp remember this its possible that any given temp monitoring system may be off by 10C if so you may be running at 64C then add maybe another 5C for your temps under full load and what if it does get a little warm in your room where your PC is at well you get the point you very well could be pushing the envelope but you may be fine but why be so close? most of us here have fun doing cooling mods and I would say most overclockers here try to keep there CPU's in the 30 to 39C [below 40C]range, the more you overclock the cooler your CPU has to be case in point if my CPU gets to 34C i can exspect lock ups but since i control ambient temps as well as 45 bucks invested into cooling mods I'm usualy around 30C give or take 3C. Youve done a great job so far with cooler temps you may get even higher. :)

Hey Guys, i told you be4! but here once again... :-)
If i DON´T OVERCLOCK this 866er CPU the temp is still not under 46°C. You understand what I´m talking about? :-)
The minimum WARNING TEMP in my BIOS is 50°C, the maximum 75°C [shutdown].
Maybe we´re talking about different temps???
Perharps you mean the SYSTEM TEMP??? :-)
If that´s so, mine is 36°C max....
And i couldn´t go over 176Mhz FSB, because my Windows won´t start. This problem not depends on the temp.
Now I´ll go to sleep... good n8 to @ll out there...
bye CyBrStOrM
P.S. Here in Berlin [Germany] we´ve a max. outside temp of 38°C in summer. But this must be a very hot day. Normaly we´ve 25-30° in Summer here. In my Room are max. 26°C in summer.
The CPU-Cooler i use is really one the best Non-Water-Coolers you can buy here in Shops. Did you never heard about PAPST-Coolers (http://www.papst.de - Made in Germany)???

I guess my bios just changes the idicators for the temps, coz normally the system temp is higher than the cpu temp!?! or isn´t it? :-)
so if i change them (in mind) i´ve a cpu temp of 34°C (like PAPST says it about the Cooler) and a system temp of 55°.
maybe somebody can gimme the dl-url to a good temp-watcher-proggy for WinMe?
so long...

usualy CPU temps are hotter, you can try Sisandra or MBM 5 which can be found at www.tweakfiles.com.
