View Full Version : Help! Computer would not power on after hsf installation.
I've just installed a globalwin wbk38 hsf and my comp refuses to power on. I've double-checked that everything is setup correctly. What steps do I need to take ?
Could a crack cpu core cause this? I accidentally scratched the cpu with my finger nails (light scratch barely visible) could this be the problem?
Argh I'm so frustrated.. spend the whole afternoon dealing with the problem#@!#@ Please help!
Thanks..
My specs are:
amd 1ghz t-bird
300watt psu
windows98se
biostart m7vkb
128mb of ram
52 x cdrom
8x4x24 cd-r
30 gb hd

you have the fan plugged into the CPU header, some mobos won't post unless it detects a fan on the cpu. Consequently, you don't want to run the delta on the mobo. What you do is cut your red and black wires and solder them some way into a molex but put the blue wire with the pin connector on the mobo.
Thanks for the reply!
The hsf came with a connector used with the PSU. I guess globalwin knew that the delta would fried the mobo cpu fan outlet.
I'm not sure what I did but the system started after I checked it over for the 50th time! must be something I've knocked. Damn that delta fan is LOUD (I must be the 10000th person saying that!) .. I'll just turn up the speaker volume to cope with it.. better than having a fried cpu key chain.. heh..
WHAT?? WHAT?? I can't hear you.
That fan is too loud.
hehehehehe
heh.. it drowns out the noise from the air con (my comp is in the basement) so that's a good thing :))
One more thing.. what is the typcial idle/full load temp for a amd 1ghz with this hsf?? is 38 Celsius in idle a decent temp (i used to get around 56 idle and 60 plus full no with the generic)? the room temp is around 23 celsius..
thanks.
